My dog's all-time favorite treat.- but don't buy it - she got sick from it this time
These are not new - at least the one I got is dated "use by 2015." HOWEVER - my dog (a Shih Tzu) is absolutely INSANE about these things. I only give her about an inch of one strip occasionally, as a special treat after a bath, claw trimming or brushing. I haven't noticed adverse effects, and hope that I never do. I don't care if it's old - I was nursing an old package that I finally ran out of about 3 months ago. She is wildly happy to have this stuff back again. I wish they would start making it. It smells awful and makes my fingers smell horrible too, but it makes my dog happy. There may be newer packages available, but I'm just glad to have some of this back in the cupboard for her.I revised my review and added a comment - the tiny bite I gave Cate (about an inch by an inch) made her sick all the next day. She couldn't keep food or water down and seemed to be running a slight temperature. She woke in the middle of the night and seemed to feel better and accepted a bite of a chicken liver and some water and kept it down all night. She has eaten a little food this morning and seems to feel like herself. I'm really sorry these didn't work out - Amazon was wonderful about refunding my money. I guess that either the fact that these had been stored too long or that this was part of a batch that was somehow contaminated caused her illness. I' will stick to Nudges Salmon Grillers, which she is almost as crazy about. They smell just as awful so that must be a selling point for her.

CAUTION: HARMFUL TO YOUR DOG! ESPECIALLY PUREBREDS!
I fed JUNKYARD Lightening Bullet these for years when they were made in the USA until I ordered from Amazon and found out that the product is made in China now! I always buy in bulk - mass quantities - because I am a disabled American Gulf War Veteran and I live far out in the mountains of West Virginia. The government does not allow me to drive because of my Severe Combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among other neurological and circulatory problems I have from the Gulf War. I have to pay $10.00 an hour plus gas and a meal to go shopping in the nearest city, so Amazon Prime is great for me! After reading the other reviews about what this product has caused to other owner's pets, I decided not to feed them to JUNKYARD until I asked my Veterinarian about it. I took the Salmon Jerky and the Chicken Jerky out to him and both of my Veterinarians told me that if the product was in question - DO NOT FEED IT TO JUNKYARD, NO MATTER HOW WELL HE LOVES THEM! I stopped feeding them to JUNKYARD after I ran out of the Made in the USA product. Amazon was great about refunding my money! It has been difficult finding treats for JUNKYARD, but he is slowly coming to like other products that are for human consumption!Wulfgang

Worth it.
These things stink to high heaven but they are totally worth it.My husband and I have a 3-legged husky mix who is missing her front left leg. Because of all the strain put on her remaining front leg, it's essential that we use some kind of hip treat to keep her healthy and feeling good. You can see a big difference in her when we forget to buy replacements after a bag runs out --- she's just not as perky and I think it's because her joints are working overtime without the extra help. And she LOVES the taste. We've used other hip treats with her before but these are definitely her favorite!

OK...
You know, our dogs like these but they have a tough consistency that remains hard for our English Bulldogs to break down and eat. We have to watch them because they tend to swallow big pieces and then will gag on them. Not really happy with the treats.

Good product--very strong smell
I love Happy Hips and usually get chicken. For a change I got the salmon. They have a very strong smell, and you will need to wash your hands after you handle them or risk smelling like fish. The dogs love them though--probably for the same reason......

dogs love them
with the concern of made in china dog treats i usually make my own jerky in a dehydrator. i bought these before i realized they were made in china, but after 3 bags i have had no issues with my dogs health. the company claims to have a quality control at the process facility that is in compliance with US standards. the ingredients are limited just like milo treats. you are pretty much just getting a dehydrated salmon treat which is better than a bunch of synthetic ingredients or fillers. i will continue to purchase these from amazon since they are usually cheaper than the pet stores.

Happy Hips
The Salmon Jerky was so smelly i could hardly open the package to give it to my poodle. She did eat it. I love the Happy Hips Chicken Jerky. No bad odor and it keeps Gigi running like a puppy!

a glucosamine find
My little minpin has been on glucosamine for 4 years and the brand she has always used is nowhere to be found. I tried this one. It's a really strong fishy smell but I think that makes it even more appetizing to her.
