it will hold
been trying to loc my hair for several months. always unraveled no matter how carefully I washed my hair. Used this product once... it took a few days... the product is a bit tough to work with... but worth it... sectioned the locs.. braided those.. after a few days, I undid each braid, used a hair dryer to separate the locs, heated each loc using the hair dryer , ran my finger over each loc, lightly twisting/ curling as initially done to distribute the wax more . ... Have washed my hair twice, since then... once per week... (premix my shampoo with water, then apply directly to my scalp..).. I've used lukewarm to coldish water (I'm comfortable with that).. my locs are still intact. Ps.. I did try softening this wax in the microwave.. .. 30 seconds at a time... didn't budge.. the heat had more of an effect on the container instead... I tried a heated back of a spoon for each time I need to 'scoop' some wax... that is time consuming and not really effective... so I slid my fingernail in the wax each time... ... the product holds so well, that whenever i let my hair (locs) down, i have to use heat to separate the locs, and loosen them (movability), the hair is a bit stiff for a while.. but that is improving also... Overall.. I like the product very much.. it does what it's supposed to... the extra time is worth it. Will be using it to loc new growth as well.. just not close to the roots of my hair.

Great product, very pricy though
I was recommended this product by a friend as I was struggling to get my dreads locked up. After recommended usage and continual practice with the crochet hook, it made a dramatic improvement. My only gripe is that the product is being shipped from Canada, so costlier shipping ensues. If you're in any of the Canadian provinces, it'll be good on your wallet. But for me, shopping is 75%+ of

Smells like honey, holds like a champ. 💪🍯
It has been many years since I last needed to use their products, but I knew exactly where to look when the need arose.A little crocheting and some Knotty Boy wax and this frizzy babies with their loose ends were whipped into shape!

I hate the smell
I bought this for my husband who decided to do dreadlocks again ... I thought it might help to get better looking dreadlocks from his straight, healthy, caucasian hair. Combined with a cat's wire flea comb, this wax does an okay job -- but I hate the smell! It reminds me of cat pee!! YUCK. Also, everytime he washes his hair in the shower, it leaves greasy/waxy brown stains on the tub floor. Perhaps that is to be expected, I don't know? But, the smell -- who ever said they like it must be smelling something else because it reeks like kitty urine!

My second favorite dread maintenance product
I say this is my second favorite dread maintenance product because after using the Knotty Boy tightening gel by Knotty Boy, I rarely use the wax anymore. I find the gel works a lot better for tightening, doesn't get stuck up in your roots as much, and it smells great! If you're really looking for a wax though, I'd say this one is not bad.Pros:- Holds well- Great for shaping and condensing new dreads- Light color barely noticeable in my platinum-blonde dreadsCons:- Hard to get out of container (even after using a hair-drying to soften wax, it still hardened almost immediately after removing the heat and was difficult to get into my hand)- Hard to apply to dreadlocks (it was so hard that it was difficult to spread a thin coating of wax, which usually left my dreads way too waxy)- Gets all over your hands/pillowcase for a few days, I'd recommend using an old pillowcase that you don't care about at night because the wax WILL transfer to everything it touches after a fresh applicationOverall I'd recommend it for a wax, but if you are looking for something to tighten/condense your dreads (and that smells good!), take a look at the Knotty Boy Tightening Gel first!

Works for everyone
I’m a Black woman with fine hair. My starter locs would only last a few days at a time before they unravel. My cousin recommended this because she said it helps loc even the finest or bone straight hair

Great product
My locks were difficult to stay locked & I didn't want to do the comb back method. A small amount goes a long way. Also if you are looking for something g that smells good, this doesn't. I think it smells like herbal tea or green tea. Also my hair is very dark & I had to rub the wax in & let it set over night to get rid of the residew look to it.

not what i expected and very gross
i attempted to have my hair locked with this product this weekend...i have very curly hair, not too soft, just past shoulder length...I've never put a wax in my hair so I have no idea if this is normal but it turned my medium brown hair a weird grayish color and it was extremely sticky (gross) i washed it out the following day (a hairstylist did and had to shampoo 5 times to remove all of the wax) the smell was not dreadful, but by no means pleasant
