Chronos II Touch Chess Clock - Black

I love chess but I don't use this clock for chess. I constantly have to monitor the time used by presenters to me and this clock with its twelve user functions give me the flexibility I need to set a variety of pre-programmed presentation times. Quite frankly, with all the variations it comes with regarding specialized timing situations in chess, it is a bit of overkill for what I use it for, but I had trouble finding anything else that came with the flexibility I needed for setting a number of different time presentations. For example, I have it set for 5:00, 7.5, 15, 30, and 60 min. presentations as well as multiple hours plus presentations. It is a bit more complex than most timers to program, but with a review of the manual you should be able to figure things out. Nothing is intuitive about the programming, so you have to follow the instructions very carefully. I spent about a half hour thoroughly reviewing the manual before attempting to program the clock. The first couple of times can be slow, but once you get the hang of it, subsequent programming is a snap. I know this clock probably has great features (i.e., bells and whistles) of which I am not presently aware, but it is great for just the simple task of timing which I use if for. When I have the time, I will do some reading up on the Internet to see what else it can do. The manual is adequate and functional, but not superb. Also, this clock is a bit more expensive than some competitor timers on the market, but I ultimately decided to go with the confidence that comes with the Chronos brand. Finally, it is well constructed in a metal housing and has a solid feel. Hope this helps.

This clock is quite complex to program. You cannot just turn it on and use it except for the preset five minute set up. Once you figure it out it is very good. I did not find the manual very helpful, but there is a very good YouTube video which will get you up and running very quickly.

I have had my clock for over a decade and have played chess with several other clocks and believe that this is the best chess clock by far--no comparison. Programming the clock is not easy, but once the time controls are set, you'll never have to mess with it again. Cheaper clocks are very noisy and attract attention when blitzing out moves, this clock is smooth, accurate, and stylish.
