Lexar make good drives.
I had a 2-hour long movie in 4K to put on to something that would run on my TV and give me more control than casting does. In particular, I wanted "resume play." The file size is 195 GB, and I didn't want to split it. Therefore I needed a 256 GB flash drive. I can't comment on material quality or on durability. The drive hasn't been used more than half a dozen times in the short time I've had it. Performance so far has been flawless.

Get it!
So much space for so little price! Yes, USB 3.0 might be phased out by USB-C soon, but in the mean time, this is a great product with huge memory capacity and is lightweight and no larger than other standard flash drives on the market. Haven't had any issues, have been using multiple times a week since I purchased. I'd recommend this to anyone!

A 256gb capacity, lightweight plastic, USB 3.0 flash drive.
I've used Lexar JumpDrives for several years, and this one is the latest iteration. The 256gb drive is the current top capacity in its class as of Feb. 2016. It's USB 3.0 interface is noticeably speedier than its USB 2.0 predecessors. The price point of this drive is also attractive for anyone needing a higher capacity portable flash drive.I use this and other Lexar drives only with Macintosh computer systems and have not experienced any problems or failures. New drives should be formatted to a known state using Disk Utility or other drive management software.Drive colors are dependent on the capacity, and this drive is manufactured in white plastic. The drive is an attractive option for moving files across computers, keeping backup files in offsite locations, or sharing files when network servers are not available. Given its relatively large capacity, it is useful for storing mp4 movie files to be played on devices with a USB interface (e.g., Roku, dvd/Blu-ray players, televisions, etc.).My only quibble with this and other Lexar drives in this class is the plastic case. The case is lightweight and the plastic does not appear to be impact-resistant. My concern is that it may not withstand an accidental drop to a tile floor or other hard surface without cracking. If daily and heavy use is required, then also expect some scuffing of the case.I recommend these drives to anyone needing to transfer large files (e.g., movie files) or scads of everyday work files.

I love the amount of storage on the drive though and ...
My drive is very hard to push open as it catches on the top of the casing. It takes a little finagling to get it open to say the least. The casing is also somewhat loose and I am afraid it will just pop off. I love the amount of storage on the drive though and it is functional.UPDATE: After using this jump drive less than a month, it is no longer functional. I have tons of important data stored on this jump drive awaiting my new computer. Being that I am computerless at the moment it isn't backed up anyplace else while I am waiting. There is no damage to the drive, I have not exposed it to extreme heat or cold, and I don't know of any viruses impacting the computers where I have used it but it is no longer detected by any of the computers at work or even in the office store support center. It is going to cost between $200-$2000 to recover this data. Given that the information is for a small non-profit theater company for children, we lack that kind of funding so I will be paying out of pocket if I try to recover the data. I was attracted to the amount of storage on this drive, but I would have been much wiser to buy anything else! I am so frustrated and disappointed. If you purchase this drive please get the recovery insurance. I wish I had...

I was pleased with the price I got on the Lexar flash ...
I have been using a pair of 129GB PNY flash drives for backing up my laptop data and have exhausted my available storage space on them. I was thrilled with the BF price I got on the pair of Lexar 256GB 3.0 flash drives although I do like the slim style of the 256GB PNY 3.0 USB flash drive and may have purchased a pair should they have been available at the same price. The main issue I have with the Lexar 256GB 3.0 flash drives is that the flashy (no pun intended) design gets in the way of being practical. That is, the flash drives are too wide hence causing space issues when trying to fit another USB device or cable connector into an adjoining USB port (and impossible to fit two of the Lexar flash drives in adjoining ports). Also, I am concerned that its aerodynamic shape lends itself to slipping out of my carrying case. Nevertheless, I was pleased with the price I got on the Lexar flash drives and I will just have to accommodate for the flashy design. However, one important practical feature that this series of the USB flash drive possesses that is not found on the PNY series is the flashing light which indicates I/O activity. It is the inclusion of this feature on the Lexar that I upgraded the product from four stars to five stars.

Might be problematic!
I bought one a few years ago and it seemed like stronger and better quality than this exact new one. I think they got more flimsy and cheap with the slide button part .. as the USB slips out, it wiggles and doesn't look like it's going to last! For that price, it better!!!!!!! We will see! Otherwise, when I download and transfer onto this stick, it takes a while and that is not good. Overall, I gave it a 3 because I don't think it will last. The quality is not as it used to be and it's constantly showing corrupted files and I have to slowly add files, in order for the data transfer to do it's job correctly or the files screw up and I have to waste more time loading them on again (even slower) ... Frustrating! Usually I love Lexar but I hope they stop going cheap on their products, or I will have to switch to a different company!

Works Flawlessly -- Would Definitely Buy Again
Great drive, works flawlessly even with lots of use. And the BIG 256 GB capacity is just what I need for backing up files. I was a bit concerned with one reviewer's comment that it blocked adjacent empty USB ports but I didn't have any problems with this at all. Biggest Proof of Performance is whether or not one would buy it again. I WOULD, in a eye blink.
