After watching UK's Strongest Man I really wanted to try the smelling salt effect. Before a maximal lift, you inhale the salts sharply and it's reported to give a kick and clear the mind helping you get psyched for the lift. For £3 it's worth a go.It's a small bottle but still potent. I have tried it on myself and a friend. I describe it as being alarmed, like your fight or flight response being switched on. If you feel 'fight' you'll love this as a tool to push more weight, some people found it a distraction like an odd ritual that had no effect. Others liked it and whether it works or not it does make you feel hardcore and I'm sure the psychology of that will bring results. I liked it, it alarms me in a positive way like getting a slap on the head and making me want to retaliate.Oddly I had a friend who had never squatted before reach a point where he had to fight hard to complete his rep, we added another 10kg and he took a huge sniff and managed to do his next rep (twice his bodyweight) without any problem.If it doesn't work for you, it is after all smelling salts and it's purpose is to clear sinuses so just use it for that, it's cheap enough to try out anyway. 5 star for weightlifting uses.

Very helpful.*Product Review*What can you say about smelling salts? They either work, or they do not. I got these for a more abstract reason. I am taking some heavy sedative medication, as well as suffer from Epilepsy episodes that get intense when sleeping. Sometimes I cannot even wake up, or think I have because i wake up into a extremely vivid episodes. They can be horrifying and tiring with sometimes no way off snapping out of them.So I now keep the smelling salts near my bed, if I can focus just enough, so far they are working brilliantly at snapping me out of the episodes. This brand is extremely intense and will even make your eyes water.Great price, great after sale help and shipping/response times.

This product is strong and lasts a long time at least 5 months but it can loose it's strength over time. I use this for gym purposes in order to give me a buzz. It does help a lot but you can get used to it and therefore the affect is not as great but I still cannot live without it. It is great for clearing blocked noses/ cold as well. It can have an insane kick so be careful when using. Pocket size. Defo recommend.

I purchased this for my father in law. He always likes to have one of these. I thought the price was expensive (nearly £12) but it arrived quickly. The smelling salts help to relieve being blocked up, so I guess was worth the money

Cheap and cheerful... until somebody shoves it up your nose! I bought this because I had trouble staying awake in classes, and I can assure you that it really does wake you up, just as stabbing yourself with a compass or getting a friend to kick you would. It also comes in handy when unblocking your nose, though I must warn you- when it suddenly unclogs, you're in for one heck of a 'wake up'!After all these months I still haven't gotten used to the experience. It doesn't even need to be that close to your nostrils for you to experience it. Breathing in the fumes or putting the item close to your eye can also be effective.Yes, I bought them for the novelty value and yes, it is still amusing after all these months. Your friends will quickly become paranoid, so you'll need to make more- this item could indeed boost your social life! The ladies love it. After you run out of fresh 'victims', you'll need to become more creative and crafty in order to get them a second, and hopefully third, time. Think of the possibilities!

I work on the doors and also liked to be aggressive during lifting sessions ...and I was suprised at how small the container is but it only makes the product more convenient to keep on you wherever you are ...as I'm mostly outdoors, the cold weather tends to get to you so when your nose starts to get stuffy this helps alot to clear your airways ..its very potent and gets the job done fast ...ive only had this afew days but the reviews say it lasts well over a year, it's only cheap even if it doesn't ..highly recommended if you get colds often or need a good psych up before a lift
