Fantastical fun
The last-last day of summer is a wonderful, twisty-turny story that reminds me of Phineas and Ferb. There's a dynamic duo of two very smart boys, whose main pasttime is saving the residents of the town from "Logan County weirdness." We learn quite a bit about the boys, who are cousins. Their personalities are different but they are thick as thieves. We also learn about the townspeople the boys interact with and that there's more to them than meets the eye. There's a bitter, savvy villain, a strange time traveler, personified types of time, and lots of unexpected revelations. What really makes the story awesome is the exploration of the internal nature of one of the cousins, Otto. I plan to use this as a read aloud with my students to encourage them to assess their internal life and emphasize value of time and how we use it. It is a thought provoking, SciFi adventure fantasy and I'm hoping there will be more books about the boy's adventures and the other townspeople. This is a world that begs to be thoroughly explored.

All kids imagine time stopping.
Though the story started a little slow for me, once it took off there was no stopping! There were twists and turns throughout and I didn’t have the ending didn’t develop as expected. Otto and Sheed are two African American cousins on their last day of summer. Not wanting their summer to end, they head out for one more day of detective work, for which they are known throughout the county. Little do they know, this will be the longest day of their lives! With the help of many others, they put their skills to the test. This is a great read for kids who like scifi/fantasy.

A wonderful adventure with heart
So much fun and so full of heart! I could picture this quirky adventure as a show on Nickelodeon that I definitely would have watched as a kid. It was great to go back to that mindset! I loved these characters and was emotionally wrecked in chapter 32. I won't spoil anything, but I was definitely not ready for chapter 32! And my deductions were nowhere near as good as Otto's, or even the Epic Ellisons', because I guessed wrong on TimeStar's identity. TimeStar's quest was a noble one and it really grounded all the "Logan = weird" bits of the journey. I am emotionally invested in these characters and can't wait for the next adventure!

Such a fun book!
This is a great adventure story that any student would love to read! Starts off with so much action, it will definitely hook a reluctant reader! Highly recommend for fifth and sixth grade students!

Kids are going to love this book! Time travel, adventure, bizarre creatures - it has it all! Plus the two main characters are so funny and relatable. And I really enjoyed the artwork as well.

An Adventure Book for All!
Bought this for my 8 year old son. We started it pre-COVID, but with soccer and school and weekend activities we couldn’t seem to find time to make it through a few pages. We returned to it a few weeks ago and it was an absolute BLAST! At the end of each chapter my son wanted MORE! This is really a timeless book that should become part of school reading lists. When a children’s book has adventure, fantasy, love, life lessons, and family and holds the attention of an adult, you know it’s good! ( Is there a Netflix special around the corner?!)

Great read for an 8 year old boy !
I bought this book to expose my son to something other than Diary of a Wimpy kid. We were not disappointed! It is a slow start but once you get going it’s a fun and unpredictable story about 2 boys of color. We have 2 chapters left... because we read at bedtime and my son can’t wait to see what happens to Sheed and Otto. Bravo!

Modern day famous five!
Bought this prematurely for my five year old as I love the cover illustrations. I’ve been reading him a chapter at a time and he has enjoyed it. He would definitely appreciate it more in a couple of years once he’s able to read it fluently himself. Fun adventure story, like a modern day Famous Five!

Relive your Summer holidays with your children
My nephew (9 years) really loves this book. He has been able to read this unaided and really got into the characters of the book. He also really loves the illustration; and thinks the expressions are fab.
