Great product! The only issue is lack of water ...
Great product! The only issue is lack of water level sensor. It creates a major inconvenience as it forces to check the water tank almost on every use. Running out of water during coffee making process is not fun. Just wastes the expensive capsules.

I do not recommend this machine or a Kitchenaid machine.
We bought the "package" with both the machine and the frother. It was expensive, but we hoped it would last a long time. The machine was EXTREMELY loud. It sounded like a small plane taking off in our kitchen every time we used it. Also, we've had it over 3 years now and it no longer works. It was descaled recently and now won't come out of descaling mode. We've tried calling Kitchen aid many times. My husband was actually told several times that the customer service man (yes, one person) would need to call him back when he was available. Well, he hasn't been available and it's been almost a month now. This is ridiculous. You would expect better customer service from a company like this, but we got nothing. Absolutely no response and no help. So now if we want to use the machine we have to plug it in, use it, and unplug it when our cup is full. Absolutely ridiculous.I'm looking for a new machine to replace this, but am apalled that a machine this expensive hasn't even lasted 4 years with minimal use. There are two of us, but i seldom drink coffee. So this machine has made approx 1-4 cups of coffee per week.I definitely do not recommend this.

Faulty Machine
Pump leaking from outset. Amazon notified. Replacement sent and due within one day. Poor Nespresso quality control. FIVE STAR Amazon customer service.NOTE : Second machine arrived. Exact same issue. This one going back too. Will try the Citiz Model now...if IT arrives defective then I will be done with Nespresso for good. Piss poor quality control from Kitchen Aid.

Sturdy, attractive classic look, but no "used capsules full" warning
When my trusted and discontinued (dare I say "vintage") Nespresso D290 died after 11 years of faithful service (with only one descaling throughout its life, that I remember doing) I looked for an appliance shop that would fix it. To my dismay, nobody wanted to take on the job of fixing it (we live in such a wasteful society, but I digress). After several days of Nespresso deprivation, I bit the bullet and decided to buy a new Nespresso machine to continue to feed my Nespresso vice. After some research, I settled on the KitchenAid KES0503OB.The KitchenAid is a sturdy, all-metal, die cast machine that's heavy and built like a tank. It's also attractive to look at. The lever gives it the look and feel of a "real" barista type espresso maker. It makes consistently good Nespresso cups with its volume adjustments, and has a fairly large water tank and waste capsule receptacle. The retractable cup platform is a great feature to accommodate small espresso cups as well as larger mugs. One advantage over my old D290 is that it shuts off when not in use for variable amounts of time which you can select. One disadvantage is that it doesn't warn (beep) when the used capsule receptacle is full, and this can lead to jamming and losing the new capsule if you're not observant. I've solved this problem by filling the tank to just the right amount so that water will have run out just before the capsule receptacle is full (about 80% water capacity). Also, re-positioning the water tank after refilling it is a bit more of a negotiation than the simple plop-down on my D290, as you have to reach around the back of the machine. All in all, I'm very happy with this machine, but it has a couple of very minor design "features" that I would change.Point summary:PROS:- Die cast metal-made, heavy and built like a tank;- Attractive classic style (I got the black onyx color, but other colors look great as well);- I really enjoy the look and feel of the lever, as it's reminiscent of the "real thing" (barista-type espresso makers);- Six different cup size settings to suit your espresso strength taste (the old D290 had a finer adjustment as it was programmable by time, but I find that I don't miss being able to dial the quantity of espresso to any amount, and the KitchenAid's 6 settings suit me just fine);- The retractable platform, when deployed, accommodates small espresso cups, or larger mugs when retracted without spillage;- The espresso quality is consistent from cup to cup (this is fixed by the water temperature and pressure which are standard for Nespresso);- Large water tank and used capsule receptacle means less emptying and refilling than more compact machines;- Auto shut-off can be programmed to turn off after specified times.CONS:- No warning beep when used-capsule receptacle is full. When full to capacity, this can lead to jamming (and losing) a new capsule;- Replacing water tank after re-filling entails reaching around to the back of the machine. Not a big deal, but my old D290 was a snap in comparison.- Bulkier and pricier than some smaller Nespresso models.HINT:- To get around the lack of warning when the used-capsule receptacle is full, fill the water tank to about 80% capacity. This way, the water will run out just before the receptacle is full, and you won't miss a beat.A really good purchase. Would give it 5 stars except for the fact that the used-capsule receptacle doesn't warn when full.
