I found it here and surprised about how bad the reviews are
I bought it from Walmart and when I search of another one on Amazon, I found it here and surprised about how bad the reviews are. I don't think that the item is that bad.Yes, there are a lot of to be improved.- The thumb screw is a joke so I had to use my own hex head to fix the length. The length is really adjustable.- The weight bars, spacer, and the spring in the handles really work as designed. The instruction showed how it would work, but you don't have to be a genius to figure that out even without the instruction.- The plastic of the handle does not look very strong, and I guess if you drop it hard with weight bars in it on concrete floor, it might crack.Overall, it is still a functional jump rope.

Not worth the Amazon price.
The only way you can adjust the length without modifying the unit is to use both weights in the handle. The only way to use the jump rope with one weight is to fill the spacer with paper to prevent the stop from falling down the handle into the spacer (making the rope to be loose in the handle rather than fixed in place). The thumb screw was missing from the first two packages I saw at Walmart. Even if you have it - it's worthless. I had to use my own hex wrench (american) to loosen the screw. The Walmart price is under $10. There were other cheaper Gold's Gym jump ropes, but the lengths were not adjustable. You'd have to wrap the extra length around your hand. So, I would caution that unless it says it's adjustable, it probably isn't.If you use the weights in the jump rope you have to cut the rope to a specific length - so only one person can use it. If you take out the weights, you can stuff about 4" (maybe 8 if you make one fold) of excess cord into each the handles. I would recommend doing this unless you know the specific length you need. As you get more proficient you may want to shorten it. But once it's cut you can't go back to a longer length.

Don't drop them. They're plastic.

but it is too annoying and difficult to properly use
I wish that I would have read these reviews before I bought this product at Wal-Mart. Luckily, it wasn't expensive, but it is too annoying and difficult to properly use. It constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY tangles. DO NOT BUY.

crap crap crap. did I really spend money on this
Unfortunately it won't let me leave 0 stars..Adjustable! ! HAEase of use! HAThumb screw thingy! HAThe only thing postive I have to say is that it positively WILL tangle...On a health kick right now and was planning to start with jumprope.. I spent more time untangling the "rope" then jumping. I suppose the cardio goal was achieved this morning, at least my blood pressure is up.

Very poor design.
I bought 2 from Walmart. They both broke after 2 uses. The handles break and the weights fall out. Very poor design.

I saw it at walmart ...was gonna buy it, but saw the warning for California that it contains carcinogens. ...like, seriously??? I saw this warning on all gold's gym stuff. Also, check out the sneaky 2nd pic, where they cut off the box that has the warning. Sneaky!
