useable i suppose
I read mixed reviews on the protag, Pally smartfinder and whereismytag - so i bought all 3.They are all pretty much useless. Its a neat trick when you know where your keys are but you are going to have a tough time using it if first you have to play around and connect. The Protag often has a loose battery and or turns itself off. The whereismytag is very quite also its one button is constantly going off in my pocket. the Pally is ok sometimes. It has a solar panel so that might help keep it working. It reconnects on bluetooth fairly quickly and the range is decent. There is little point in mentioning the range because it can vary with so many factors - I hate them all. I will however be buying more pally smart finders... a one-eyed man is king amongst the blind. One really anointing thing about Pally is that it almost forces you to place your phones "location" on high accuracy. you can decline but you will always be answering that question. This seems like some kind of agreement with google for advertizing oportunities. I ONLY want GPS location non "anonymous" location info sent back to.... FIX the APP!!

Random beeping makes the product unusable
I love the idea of this product with its solar-charge feature. You can buy rechargeable button cells these days, but this product is the only tracker device I'm aware of that offers built-in solar recharging. The idea is a nice one, but the execution is poor. Yes, the fob does work, and when it works as it is supposed to, it seems like a great product. However, like the first reviewer, I have found this product to have a problem with random beeping. It doesn't do so often (although sometimes it will emit several beeps in a row), but one loud beep in the middle of a meeting is one beep too many for me.I tried to address the problem with the company directly, and they were fairly responsive and tried to be helpful. After they could not determine the cause for the random beeping, they sent me a replacement fob. I was initially pleased with this response. The second fob, however, has exactly the same issue. With no on/off switch, the random beeping makes this product unusable to me.There are other issues that might make this product less than ideal, like the fact that there seems to be very little available anywhere in the way of instructions or documentation, or that the app (android) seems a bit cumbersome to use. In order for such issues to even matter, though, the product has to be functional, and it's just not, for me. I'm giving the company a 2 star review simply to acknowledge my appreciation for their customer service department, but I am disappointed in the product and cannot recommend it to anyone at this time.

It meets my needs, but doesn't do what is advertised
It seems nice so far. I've had a couple of surprising/confusing instances where it started beeping for apparently no reason, but it works well overall. I was a little worried about the leash functionality being glitchy and a drain on my battery, so I haven't given it a fair try yet. I'm not sure what my battery usage has really been like, but I haven't needed to charge it by USB yet. I just set it on the table in the sunlight a few times, but it's hard to say how long it was charging before the sunlight moved. I don't really what what else to include in the review, but figured I should at least post something since there aren't any other reviews for this model yet. I'd be more than happy to check stuff and answer any questions people might have.Update: I have somehow been classically conditioned by the beeping to respond with a "Shh" or "womp". It happens nearly every time. The beeps mostly seem to happen when the keys are moved around quickly, but sometimes that isn't even the case.I still haven't really gauged the solar charging because I'm not outdoors very often and inconspicuous north-facing windows are hard to come by(I've actually forgotten my keys on window sills trying to charge it). From what I can tell, the solar charging seems pretty slow, but the battery lasts for months an Regardless, the battery lasts for months anyway and charged from nearly dead to full in a few hours with the microUSB.Another big issue is that the GPS location rarely updates, so if you find page it and want to at least be sure it's in the building you're in, you're most likely out of luck. Also, the leash option is very finicky. It has disconnects at random, which means choosing between tons of notifications, or disabling the notifications, which sort of defeats the purpose. The big problem surrounding all of these things is that the app UI is very lacking, so it's difficult to gauge how the settings are supposed to work and troubleshoot when they don't.My primary reason for getting this was to find my keys under a pile of stuff when I'm rushing in the morning. It (usually) does that well enough, but it's a little disappointing to see that many of the other features they advertise don't actually work well.

Works well, make a thin version
Works well!I had one that did the random beeping issue, two others without that problem.Range could always be better, but that's a bluetooth limitation. A quick patrol around the house and my item is found.Really does charge in the sun. It's time for me to buy a new Tile Slim for my wallet...Pallys still going strong. Make a thin one like the Tile Slim, please!

Use for pets
I live in the woods and I put this on my cat's leash. I get a message if cat is out of range, back in range on my phone, along with a "beep." The cat does not mind the beep. It's rather fun and a good way to keep track of the cat, when he goes under brush or meanders away and I lose track of him. If he goes too far, he will "disconnect," and then I get a GPS map location on my phone.

Great Product
I researched many key finders which connect to my iPhone and this one has a nifty feature of recharging itself on the go. It claims 1 hour exposure to the sun recharges it for 7 days use. Other key finders have less than 1 year battery life. Some needs to be recharged every 3 month. It’s working great for my teenage daughter who always has her phone but not her keys.

Now I have a useless white thing that my daughter paid $14 for
This is so miserable. Now I have a useless white thing that my daughter paid $14 for. It does not work or charge. Makes a constant clicking sound or beeping sound while on charge. Ruined her Christmas morning.

However USB charging seems good and the battery level now never seems to drop ...
Ordered a batch of them. Two were DOA (will not charge. No light or sound)It does find keys. It very rarely finds my phone. Virtual leash works as does the drop detection, but it goes off way too often. If you has something you were paranoid about it might be OK.. It also sometimes emits a random beep now and then when you handle the keys. I am sure the button is not the cause. The solar panel does not recharge the battery in an hour. I left it several hours in bright sunlight and could see no change in level (unit arrived half full). However USB charging seems good and the battery level now never seems to drop so it might be helping. In the end it finds my keys... it saved me on at least 4 occasions in one month. I would buy again. I have had similar products that were essentially useless... this is not.

Dissappointed
The range on this product is terrible. Only works if the finder is within 20 feet and direct line of sight. I'm trying to find online help but can't. I'm disappointed

Poorly designed
This review may get a bit lengthy because of the detail I have to provide. I received this product fast and on time. The set up was fairly straight forward and the app was simple. It connects via Bluetooth, as the app prompts you to do, but however your phone doesn't recognize it is connected to the device when it is actually connected. It will connect as long as the app is open even without the phone displaying it in Bluetooth devices. It loses connection after 2-3 minutes, and if you want the leash mode on your phone will be ringing and beeping every 2-3 minutes. The whole function of this is to attach it to an object that you don't want to lose, but it is tough when it disconnects frequently. It is impossible to use just for the find mode as you will never know when it is disconnected from your smartphone. After a while I just left it on my keychain and never bother connecting to my smartphone anymore. Every 10-15 steps the device beeps. If you are going up stairs or jogging or they shake at all it goes off every 1-3 steps, making this product very intrusive more than convenience. I don't know if mine has a factory defect or if it is just bad quality. Smartphone is an LG G3
