Heaviest fit poncho you can buy nowadays, aka almost like the old type ponchos
This ponchos quality is great. I have Fox, Rothco and FireForce (great quality light) ponchos. If I’m thru hiking and trying to go Ultra Light I go w my high quality FireForce light weight poncho. It could be used as a tarp or poncho easily in the California portion of the trail. However, if I’m at our cabin up in Washington State which is a virtual rain force in winter I pull out this Mil-Tec beast poncho! For heavy constant rain, this beast does the trick. Unlike modern ponchos the inside seems to be rubberized. It is heavy, but, man the thing can shed water all day. Using it as a tarp, it is equal to any heavy duty tarp you can buy at Home Depot. It is true ripstop material. Also the color is a true dark pattern German Flecktarn perfect for Pacific NortWest, British Columbia, Sierra Nevada deep woods!Being an old Army Vet from the 80’s, this poncho about as close as you can get to the old heavy duty Army ponchos we were issued. Thankfully not quite as heavy in weight, but the material and water proofing just as strong. Also the snaps on the poncho can be used with a second one to make a huge 2 man pup tent. Or a 1 man 2 woman pup tent (ha ha, wishful). There are only a couple of negatives: 1) it’s strength of being the most heavy duty poncho on the market also makes it is heavy at 28oz 2) it is only 80” long. I am 5’9” (69”) so I just fit with a bit of overhang to hide out from the rain. But if I were over 6’2”+ might get a little tight for rain coverage. But, though about 5-10” shorter than other ponchos, on the plus size it sure won’t leak and seemingly could hold up to very heavy winds!!!!! Using it asymmetrically solves the coverage length issue.

A well made ponch.
I needed a well made poncho for my bug out bag. I purchased this German camo design. It is well made. It has several metal double sided snaps running down both sides of the poncho. There are metal eyelets at several points lanyard ropes already tied in. It is made of a rip stop nylon. The seams are sealed and the interior is very rubbery. This poncho will not leak...It may make you sweat and get you wet that way. It is large enough to drape over my and my 50L backpack and still keep me covered down to my knees. The hood is large, has a nicely designed bill that projects out. The quality is better than I expected for this price.

seems like a quality product
Have not used it yet, seems like a quality product, I'm glad to have it for rain.OK, I used it during a 2" storm while hunting and learned some valuable details:1. There is one sewn on string thingy that you're supposed to tie around your wait to keep the poncho from blowing in the wind. It is not seam sealed and water soaks through it. For better results seam seal it with aqua seal.2. All the strings that come with it are made of cotton and soak up water like a sponge. Replace them all with synthetic cord and performance will be increased. You can use dental floss to tie on some cord onto the cotton string that runs through the hood and use the existing cotton to pull the synthetic cord through the hood. Also, there are some low star reviews by people here who do not understand that if it rains you will get wet no matter what type of gear you have. This poncho is pretty sweet as is and even better once you upgrade the details listed above. It would be a five star product after the upgrades. My hunting partner bought a 21.99 poncho, it was smaller and less durable. The camo pattern seamed shinier too which doesn't seem like what you want if your hunting. The grommets on this one are pretty nice but remove the strings, they just soak up water. Tie on strings only when using it as a blind or tarp.

Exceptional.
Originally, I purchased only one -- There are so many of these with questionable materials and construction. After inspecting the first one when it arrived; material, stitching, snaps, etc.-- I immediately ordered a second. They will keep the water off and do the job as advertised. The only con I can place is the hood-size: It could be a little larger comfortably accommodate field hat or helmet. There are plenty of tie-downs around the edge to use as a tent-tarp. I may add a few more to facilitate a greater range of tent configurations when I have two tarps snapped together.

Multiple uses
Purchased a few of these for my BOB and am very happy with the product. Comes with its own carrying case and it folds neatly into a square pouch. Estimate about 6x4x2 inches when in pouch. Two complaints I saw in other peoples reviews were the weight and they could not get it back into the pouch. The weight, yes it is a little heavier than the traditional poncho however the quality is far superior. This product could easily double as a rain catcher, extra covering, tarp, blanket, or to camouflage something. As a poncho I would anticipate it lasting a very long time. If you use it as a tarp then obviously the life span will be shortened. In my opinion the versatility makes the extra few ounces well worth it.Folding it back into the pouch. Will you ever get it back in the case as crisp as they did? No chance. But if you pay attention as you unfold it you can certainly fit it back in. Its a square with an extra hood. Shouldn't be all that difficult.WARNING: If you do purchase this product for an emergency kit or bug out bag and find you are unable get the poncho back into the case please strongly consider whether bugging out is even a logical option for you.

Nice, but heavy.
Fair warning: this is HEAVY (for a poncho). Don't expect to just throw it in a bag and forget about it. Feels like good quality: has that "rip-stop" fabric.. I used it during a flash rainstorm and it was great, seemed totally waterproof. I am regretting carrying it in my hiking backpack because it is pretty heavy, but it could work as an emergency shelter, so that justifies carrying it. Also works as an invisibility cloak in the forest.
