Enjoying campfires has been something that my wife and I have done for many years. About 6-7 years ago we were living 'in town' and wanted to have a firepit that would allow us to enjoy a campfire in our backyard. I decided on purchasing this one for a variety of reasons including its overall appearance which we loved, its portability to an extent, and we loved the 'up and down' pivot screen that makes the firepit a little safer to use. I see from some reviewer comments that it is a beast to put together....at that time I didn't have to because I was experiencing a bad back episode and was laid up so my youngest son did it and I recall him saying it was not an easy assembly. Other reviewers site how it is prone to rust and doesn't last.We have moved a couple of times and that firepit has come with us. It comes with a cover and I have consistently covered it the next day after it cools to protect it from the elements. Here it is, 6-7 years later and it is finally now showing signs of wear with the screen developing some breaks and openings. I'd say we got our money's worth with this gem. So...we purchased another one and it's awaiting its time to replace the original which we'll continue to use until it is really time to retire it.If you're thinking about a firepit....think no further. This one is awesome! BTW...these rating features are quite 'inappropriate' for the most part and don't fully reflect characteristics that should highlight this product, perhaps the first two should be there, but there should also be other characteristics highlighted.

I will be burning in style with this fire ball. I have wanted a fire pit for my patio, but was not too fond of what I saw at most stores. So this was a refreshing change in shape and function! I watched it on Amazon for 4 or 5 months and finally caved when it went on sale. I am very pleased with this purchase. I had it assembled and working by the end of the day. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a new fire pit.Pro:- Great size. I live in the city and cant have anything over 3 ft wide anyways. This is the perfect size for a patio!- Comes with a decent cover - not super thick, but works just fine.- Top glides open with ease. Does not get snagged or make a metal rubbing noise.- Neighbors are jealous :)- Had ALL the bolts and nuts. No missing pieces.- When the wood pops while burning - no embers come flying out. This is great is you have kids or dogs!- Inside pan is easy to remove and has very sturdy handles.- Aside from taking forever to assembly, the directions were clear and the parts were labeled well. So that is a plus in my book.Con:- Took me a lot longer than 45 min to assemble. Because of the round shape, assembly was not easy for one person. I would suggest having help. Also - make sure all the holes are aligned properly or it wont fit together. This thing is a jig-saw puzzle!- Some of the metal coating came off during assembly. I should have had some thicker cardboard under it. But it also shouldn't come off that easy...- If you forget the cover, the wood pan will collect water. so remove it, or remember to cover it.- I tried to think of other cons.. but seriously, cant come up with anymore. It was annoying to put together. But that aside, no complaints.

Listen guys, my back yard continues to be the place for my buddies and family to come in the coldest days here in NC to sit in front of the pit and enjoy a GREAT fire and some good southern grilling. The unit itself came in solid in the box, and everything was fine until we started assembling it an realized that they sent us 2 of the same panels. Hence, I drilled 2 holes and it was done. Due to the extensive use of this product, the hinges that open the lid with have to be replaced with steel but they are holding up so far. Again, I doubt anyone is putting this much wood through this pit like I am, am an outdoorsman and prefer to be in the cold burning a fire than looking at TV. When I say that we burn wood, I mean we burn wood. All of my buddies have pits and they said that this one is absolutely awesome. To give you guys an idea, we go out on Saturday and literally cut a tree a week, for all of us to replenish our supply. I'd say at least 4 times a week am burning my pit outdoors. You can put huge logs into this thing, without any problems at all. On weekends we go through at least 100 logs without any problems because the wood is still moist, and it take more wood to keep our circle of friends enjoying the heat from all the coals.This is my first review of many products that I have begun purchasing with Amazon. I got this pit for 179.00 about 4 month to this writing. And although am starting to see some rust from the original paint, it's because I did not use the cover due to having a bloodhound puppy in the yard that right now is destroying anything it can find. In summer when I give it a break I will paint it, replace the hinges, and get it ready for next season or for chilled summer nights. I saw the low scores on this one, and they are absolutely out of their minds on this product, maybe they just could not get around doing some minor things to it, but for me it was no prob at all to work on it.2 of my buddies are saving up just to get this pit. BUY this product with confidence! Even though they missed matched one of the panels. Am giving this product a 5plus due to the amount of enjoyment that my family and friends have had with it. Remember to start your fire, and then setup the logs straight up tepee style with a 1/4 inch gap between logs even when adding new ones to let the coal feel the oxygen so that the logs light up faster; and you will be moving away from the heat trust me. My buddies bought some of the other pits here, and their wives never came out in the cold; with this pit there sitting outside in the coldest of days with a pad to warm up theirs buns :) us guys just get up and turn around. When this pit gets hot hot, it turns red with the amount of logs we put into it. The kids well they just put there hotdogs on a long S steal stick and cook them charbroil right of the pit. Enjoy this product as much as we have, it's worth the money even at the current price. Peace.
