Really enjoying my new computer
I needed a new computer...my old one was 10 years old. I held off because of the new windows. I loved XP. Windows 8 (upgraded free to 8.1 as soon as i got it) is different. I hate the tiles so I made the "desktop" my default and have completely forgotten that i am running windows 8. So don't let windows 8 stop you from buying. This computer is very fast to start and run any program. I love the power button on top and the usb drives located in front near the top of the tower. No more bend way down to plug things in. Set up was fast. Comes with a mouse and keyboard. I am not a gamer, so i have no idea how it does for that. I would recommend this computer to the average home user.

Computer Is Great, But Registered in Reseller's Name
The computer is operating as advertised, and it is unbelievably fast compared to my old XPS Vista system. I wish I would have upgraded sooner, but the thought of converting to Windows 8 made me put it off as long as possible. Overall, I'm very happy with the Dell computer. However, when I tried to register the system and access the "My Dell Downloads" website, I could not do it, and after calling Dell, I found that the computer was registered to someone else. I contacted the seller and he/she apparently went through the process of transferring the system to me, but it didn't fix the problem. I've spent hours on the phone with Dell, and I'm not sure whose fault this is, but, in any event, it has been a big hassle and a big waste of my time. At this point the problem still has not been resolved.

Good Desktop Good Value
I have had the PC for about a month now and am very satisfied. It is very fast and I have not had any issues. Windows 8.1 takes some getting used to, but it seems natural now. The unit was shipped in less than a week. The only disappointment is that it was supposed to come with a full year warranty, but it is backdated so I actually only got about 10 1/2 months. I am the first to register it, so it appears to be based on manufacture date.

Exceeds expectations.
I was looking for a highly rated higher end desk top. I narrowed the choice between an HP Envy and the Dell XPS X8700-1877. Based on the reviews I read, it seemed that Dell had a better reliability record. I went with the Dell. Time will tell if I made the right choice. So far so good. I was leery about Windows 8.1 but decided to go with it and am getting comfortable with it. The seller, DH Data Recovery, had the best price I could find on the net at the time ($810) and delivered the computer much sooner than I expected. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

very good base machine
video card is mid-tier but functional. no dual-sli option. powersupply has cabling for 2 6-pin connectors to power a higher performing/powered video card.Lots of USB3 ports. For the price, this is a good value. Not a gaming box, but top shelf for SOHO use.

Very small- Very Quiet-Plan on Tossing the Memory if upgrading
To Be fair it partly to blame is getting used to Windows 8 and then upgrading to 8.1 was a pain and took an IT person 3 hours to get it updating. There is no reset button and if you buy the computer with the hope of upgrading the memory then you will have to toss the memory installed by dell because Dell fills the slots with low memory cards to make up 8 or 12 gb so if you need 16 or more then you have to start with 8gb memory cards. On a good note its very quiet .Not much space inside very small

Hard drive not recognized
Never, never, never will I purchase another Dell computer. Out of the box the computer wouldn't start because the system didn't find a primary hard drive. Tech support was useless and had me run through an hours worth of testing when it was clear from the start that the case on this computer should have been painted lemon yellow. Then they put me on hold so a manager could ask if I wanted to return the computer to Dell and wait for a replacement. "Not in this lifetime," I replied. I guess I just expect that minimal testing be done on a machine before it ships. Like: does it boot up?

For the money a really god machine.
Just got it set up, I am looking forward to using it for more complex programs. With all the additional ports satisfies my charging needs on other appliances
