Prevents water from going stale overnight. Lasted more than a year. The glue on the copper mouthpiece and the wax inside flaked though, be careful not to swallow the glue. I used a carved cork with mine. After a month the skin peels, then the skin is not flaky after cleaning it. Tastes great. Need a new one. Fortunately I took a pic before it broke on the cement floor, as it should, instead of scarring my foot like bottled water. After a year it is not 100% waterproof, some moisture or condensation gets on the outside. Clean off the mold every 2 days with a dry wipe.

It’s very great it holds a lot of water and it’s easy to carry around.i mostly got it because I love collecting random Japanese stuff but I actually use this gourd. Only problem is it makes water taste Weird but I feel like that will go away over time
