My Little Book of Burrowing Owls (My Little Book Series) Paperback – June 1, 2003

Have a friend with a passion for these owls, she knows everything about them, so was concerned the book would be redundant. The book, a it turns out, has been the "best book ever"Its cute, its fun and it perfectly captures the facial expressions the birds make in real life. More like a children's book than a research tome, but its illustrated well, and has a very short story. . Burrowing Owl Fans = its a must have.

I purchased this book in combination with the Burrowing Owl Puppet by Folkmanis so my four-year-old nephew could really learn about burrowing owls. This book is informative, interesting, and fun, giving realistic depictions of life for a family of burrowing owls. My nephew is very interested in learning the different types of owls and what they do day to day- We all learned from reading this great book!

The book, "My Little Book of Burrowing", is a informative child's book with nicely drawn illustrations. I'd recommend this book for a fun teaching tool for young children.

I have read this book to my library students. I combined it with a little burrowing owl puppet. Gets their attention. That is important in nonfiction genre.

My children (age 4.5 and 2.5) and I love all of Hope Marston's, "My Little Book Series" books! Our family started out with the Painted Turtles book and now we own all of the books in the series! Each story focuses on a specie of animal and covers a year of its life including raising young, learning how to feed, and avoiding predators. Interestingly, these stories are fictional but there is plenty of information within the text for children to become familiar with the animal. Each story still allows the reader to connect to the animal in the story. In addition to the content, these books are beautifully made! The illustrations are fabulous and always capture my children's interest. Many pages contain words in larger and bolder text that make the sounds the animal is making come alive. I also love that the author has checked her animal facts because at the end of each book the author gives thanks to animal experts/organizations that edit her work for accuracy. That's impressive! You and your children will fall in love with these books, too! Happy reading!
