First chapter was OK, but then digressed into endless discussions of Digium hardware, drivers and configuration. Chapter 3 promises to show you how to set up a simple PBX, but fails spectacularly.The book might be useful if you are familiar with Astrisk, but it's useless if you are not. If the authors want to write something useful, they should start with setting up a simple PBX with SIP and 2 ip phones.

The concept for this book, a training course in Asterisk, is a good one. But the execution is poor. Key concepts are not defined, apparently there was no editor, the book may have been translated from Spanish so an English speaking editor is crucial. Finally, the book lacks an index of any kind so it’s later use as a reference is critically limited.
