RockyMounts Lock Core 2 Pack for RockyMounts Car Racks

Incredibly easy installation. Works as expected! Using these on my RockyMounts Brass Knuckles rack.The 1 star reviews from those that purchased these lock cores and attempted to use them on other brand racks, such as Thule & Yakima, should be removed or disregarded. These are RockyMounts lock cores, to be used with RockyMount products. They may work for a few Thule products but don't be upset/surprised if they don't.

I purchased this set of lock cylinders because other reviewers had indicated they were the same ones sold under the Thule brand. Upon receipt, I compared them to the cylinders on a Thule rack I already own and found this to be true. I am convinced they all come from the same manufacturer. I ordered a 2 pack which strangely included 4 keys. 2 keys for each I suppose. installation took mere seconds on my Thule kayak rack without the need for a dummy key. Just insert the regular key, line up the tab and push in- DONE! I can only conclude that other reviewers who had a problem with this must have been doing something wrong. The locks function perfectly and I anticipate no problems with them. So save your money and buy the Rocky Mounts for all your Thule rack needs. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased the RockyMounts JetLine for use on my 2018 Tiguan. The rack is great, and these lock cores installed easily and securely and add the locking mechanism to the Jetline, essential if you plan on leaving your car unattended for any amount of time. The installation was simple, but I would recommend buying these when you buy your rack as installation would be easiest to during your initial assembly.

the first set i ordered was perfect out of the package...this second set, one of the lock cores had the tiny spring in it messed up a little causing the retainer to stay compressed so every time i unlocked it the core would come right back out. i took it apart and tweaked the spring a little and then reinstalled the core, and it appears to be fine now. also, one of the keys gets stuck sometimes where i have to wiggle it some to get it out. the 2nd key does not do that and the first set i got does not do that either.overall, i'd say for the price and quality it has earned the 4 stars.

I'm one of the few who couldn't make this work. One broke, the other just didn't function. I bought a Kryptonite Keeper chain to fasten my bike chainstay to my roof rack. Probably more effective against theft. I wouldn't be averse to buying these again just to try. Maybe if Rocky Mounts publishes a nice how-to video. Otherwise, a complete waste of $$ for me.The good news is, the Rocky Mounts bike roof rack fork combo I bought is top quality. Again, there, better directions would have made installation simple. (Rocky Mounts Tierod).

These lock cylinders went in so easily that I thought either a) I had done something wrong, b) the lock insert locations in the rack (purchased used from a coworker) were worn/damaaged or c) they could not possibly provide any real deterrence to thieves.WRONG...WRONG...WRONG! These fit great in my Thule Criterium 598 rack!!! I'm so pleased that I'm actually writing this review the same day that I received the lock cores!Naturally like any cross-brand implementation of components, your mileage may vary. I can only vouch for their fitting and working in MY particular Thule Criterium 598 rack.

Bought it for the Tomahawk bike rack. Very easy to install. Do not know if it works for Thule racks (I bought Thule locks for that).

Fits like a glove

Rockymounts locks seems not to rust as badly as some Thule locks.I owned both and the current Rockymount locks are still pretty shinny with a spot of rust.Compared to my previous set up of Thule it tend to rust after a winter and tends to binds where the Rockymount still pretty smooth when unlocking.
