My elderly mother has macular degeneration and was starting to have trouble reading even large print books, as portions of the words would "disappear". She loves to read so this was hugely depressing for her. I bought this magnifier hoping it would help. I am happy to say she is back reading again! The edge of the magnifier has no rim so it doesn't block any of the text, and the light really helps. There is a switch on the handle so you can choose to use it with or without the light. The handle is comfortable to hold even though she has arthritis in her hands. She carries it in her purse to read labels in stores, and uses it for her everyday pleasure reading. Great buy!

I bought this for my parents. They are getting older and even with glasses, fine print is not ledgible. The light works great and the on off switch is easy to switch, well, on and off. The "glass" part comes wrapped so there is no chance of scratches. The magnifying glass works extremely well. I love the rimless aspect. I had never seen one like it and really like how you have more than just one section is magnified. My parents have decided they will put it in their RV to help with map reading in poor light. Batteries are easy to change. Overall, I am happy with this and if I find myself needing a magnifying glass, wiould happily buy a second one.

For the most part this is a good magnifier and will fit the purpose for which it was intended. However, I bought this to replace a similar model that I have misplaced. I was a little disappointed that this did not include a cloth sleeve to cover the glass. Just sitting in a drawer will subject this to potential scratching and fingerprints. Had this come with a protective sleeve, I would have rated 5 stars. Note, my other unit this was replacing did come with a cloth protective sleeve, which set my expectation higher.

My stepdad has a hard time reading and always uses a magnifying glass, this is so perfect for him to not have to hold a flashlight too while he's magnifying. I gave him a felt case we had from a pair of sunglasses and it works well to not let it get scratched up when he's not using it. It should come with its own pouch but does not, otherwise really really great item and he was thrilled about it. The light lights up the area that is being magnified very nicely.

There are 2 very small lights on the handle under the magnifying glass. The lights are not very bright at all. The magnification is really good but why only 2 small dim lights? I expected it to be great since most of the reviews were great. I really needed a big bright light to go with my great magnifier. Disappointing to say the least.

Works great. Nice big lens. Bright light. I keep thinking I'm going to chip the lens, since it doesn't have a frame around it, but I haven't so far and probably won't ever. I had been using a Great Point Light magnifier I've had for years but didn't like having to use two hands to extend it in order to turn on the LED. By contrast, one can hold and turn on the LED on this magnifier with one hand. I haven't used the bifocal inset yet, probably because I forget it's there.

It should include directions and I am not sure how to open to check for batteries. It would be nice if it had a case to protect lens from scratching. It DOES appear to offer a clear magnification. I just got it so I am not sure...
