The Mod Squad Season 1
A**N
Still (Mad about) the Mod Squad after all these years!
THE MOD SQUAD! SEASON 1 VOLUME 1The first 13 of the season one 26 episodes are all here in chronological order. Interview segments with Peggy Lipton, Michael Cole & former guest stars are featured on 'FORMING THE SQUAD' and 'FRIENDS OF THE MOD SQUAD'; also remembered is 'Inside the "TEETH OF THE BARRACUDA:" 1968' the first episode which also served as series pilot for THE MOD SQUAD.'FORMING THE MOD SQUAD' is a look back at the times that were in '68 via some of the events that were happening and recollections by Julie & Pete, as well how they came to win the leads in tv's 'hippest' series - groovy!Thoughts too the Mod Squad about mode of transporation-the famous (or is it infamous?)'51 Mercury Woodie and why/how it met its demise is another topic discussed.Among the four guests are Lesley Ann Warren, Lou Gosset Jr, Ed Asner and Tyne Daly, each reminiscing about an that episode each particular was in, this on the segment 'FRIENDS OF THE MOD SQUAD'.It's simple really: if you loved the Mod Squad as much as I still do, you need to buy this and you will. If you're like me, consider it a date with Julie - with big brother Pete serving as the chaperone - and Linc as ever close enough to jump in when needed; Greer is here too, and all the rest.Having already had the entire series on DVD via bootlegs, I yet purchased the official version specifically to see any interview & current video of Julie, Pete & Linc.Julie? She's still the 'canary' with broken wing, and that same set brown eyes that launched thousands of adolescent boys ships into manhood. At 61 (no way) she's as attractive as ever.Pete? Michael Cole at age 67 is still Cochran as ever - the 'conscience' of the Squad to this day. He's still 'he' as I was 'he' age 12 when the show debuted in '68.Linc? 68 & missing; not seen in this dvd set in any recent interview like the other two - this is indeed sad & a real demerit in my bag. Unaware of the cause for his omission whether of his own accord or reasons business, but the absence is notable - and not 'solid' at all brother..we need you; get it together wit da 'man'..take your rightful place the Squad room Mod.Tige Andrews? RIP Captain...he died earlier this year at 86 but will ever and always be there when you need him - more often than naught seated his office downtown, place where his wall clock was always right twice a day.Heroes never die really, they just get split into volumes of each season, piece meal. Well, it took long enough to get Mod Squad into/onto official release, so won't throw too much a tantrum regards the seeming tack these days to milk yet another $hekel or more out of the buying public. A shame but like the Golden Rule proffers: he who has the gold, makes the rules. All things considered, it was worth the wait..I give it '5' stars for the memories, minus one * for Linc's omission interviews and minus one more * for the bleeding of blood from turnips that be the trend today reference hacking seasons into volume$.Yet, as it remains my favorite television show - ever - there is no way I can give it less 10 stars..the 'unforgettable' opening theme and haunting close can only mean one thing..it's THE MOD SQUAD!

"IF ONLY KIDS WOULD LEARN TO RUN TO A COP INSTEAD OF AWAY FROM ONE"
"If only kids would learn to run to a cop instead of away from one," Captain Adam Greer (Tige Andrews) says in Episode #2 "Bad Man On Campus." To this end, he has recruited three young people, Pete, Julie, and Linc, to act as undercover cops-- to help bridge the "generation gap"; help the cops deal with the "Counterculture." You see, The Mod Squad can get into places that other cops-- that is, "The Fuzz"-- can't. Created by Bud Ruskin with FABULOUS theme music by Earle Hagen over the opening credits every week! "The Mod Squad" has not been in heavy syndication like other Classic TV shows of the late 1960's era. You can bet I snapped this up fast. I'll bet other fans did, too. My only disappointment is that only 13 Episodes from Season One: 1968, are included here. (And it's a shame that Clarence Williams III is absent from the DVD interviews. However, Peggy Lipton, Michael Cole, and several guest stars are on hand for DVD extras. Tige Andrews passed away in January, 2007). But, after watching just two episodes, I immediately pre-ordered the next "Mod" DVD set, due out in March. "The Mod Squad" was certainly a show of its time-- you know immediately you're in 1968, with the clothes and the lingo-- but it is also timeless. You embrace the show for being exactly what it is and for being exactly where it's at. That is part of the fun of it. While the quality and creativity of subsequent Aaron Spelling productions like "Charlie's Angels" and "The Love Boat" went way down to the bottom of the TV cheese barrell,"The Mod Squad" is a true CLASSIC that is too "far out" for words. The cast is extremely charismatic and HOT!!!! Michael Cole is hot-head hearthrob Pete, lovely Peggy Lipton is wounded "sparrow, flower-child" Julie, and as Linc, Clarence Williams III seems like TV's answer to Sidney Portier. Even Tige Andrews as their "establishment" father figure Captain Adam Greer is HOT!!!!"Mod Squad" ought to have its own drinking game. Everybody should take a drink every time Linc says, "SOLID--" but there wouldn't be a sober person left at the end of any one episode! These "Mod" three never use guns, and they never 'bust" any young person. They just try to help troubled youth, and take down the bad guys who are preying on them. Drugs, (acid, marijuana) are an important factor in ALMOST every episode. Each episode is action-packed. Some episodes, particularly "Find Tara Chapman!" may be packed with TOO MUCH ACTION. And each episode features an extended fight/chase scene. I can't tell you how much FUN I'm having watching this show again. Just, Please, bring out more more "Mod Squad" on DVD, and please do it soon. I highly recommend this series on DVD. As Linc would say, "Keep the faith, baby, and don't spread it thin!!"

I watched Mod Squad when I was still in grade school, the first time around. I'm enjoying it just as much now, all these years later.πThe stories, cast, clothes, scenery...all wonderful. Really captured the vibe of that special time and place. California never looked better. Link, Julie, Pete....you will not be forgotten.RIP Peggy Lipton, sad to read of her recent passing.Add this to your nostalgia collection, you won't be sorry.Helpful votes are always appreciated.β€

Good Crime Show set in the 1960s
I watched this series when I was a kid and enjoyed it. I bought the first season to see if it was as good as I remembered and it has lived up to my expectations. The series is set in the 1960s and really captures the era, but the plots haven't lost there appeal. Somehow, it doesn't seemed dated. The series is about three young adults who have had troubled lives who become undercover police agents. They solve a variety of crimes using the advantages that their young age and diverse backgrounds afford them. The shows are edgy and engaging. There is a different feel to them than the crime shows of today, but it just makes them more interesting. The video quality is quite good.

Spectacular
This is and always was one of my most favourite TV shows. A one of a kind show, there is no possible way to duplicate this show. I watched this show faithfully when it aired on TV, and now to have it on DVD, is the ultimate best. More seasons would be extremely nice to have.
