Kwikset99140-110 Convert Smart Lock Conversion Kit - (Amazon Key Edition)

Works with echo plus, you dont have to have the cloud cam.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Ok, so I was worried that you were required to have the cloud cam in order to use this with the Amazon echo and it's not true, I have the Echo plus which has the built in hub and I was able to pair to with no issues. However if you don't have that you must have some kind of hub, I hear the samsung smart things hub works but I've not tried that. The lock works great and I use the alexa app to unlock and lock from the phone and it doesnt make me wait long. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase, I might purchase the cloud came later on, but its not required if you have a hub device already.

SETUP ISSUES - BEWARE
Be aware, this product REQUIRES you to have a Amazon Cloud Cam even to set it up.My reading of the description made it seem like you needed the Cam for in-home delivery. However, the price looked good, and I didn't need that function, so I went ahead. My mistake. It will not pair unless you go through the Amazon Key App. The setup will only let you connect to Wi-fi through the Cloud Cam. I do not have a cloud cam, don't really want one at ~$100, and they are out of stock anyways.Note, Kevo and Kwikset Apps do not work with this device. I spent more time than I care to admit figuring that out.I will be returning it.

Good basic lock
Very nice conversion kit. Comes with a bunch of adaptors for different lock brands which is nice. Overall, this thing is great, but there are a few caveats, mainly around using it with a smart home setup.First, while the description says Z-Wave, the lock is ZigBee. Not a big deal, just that some people have a preference since Z-Wave extends your networkSecond, when you add it toSmartThings it's shows up as "Thing" and won't work. For whatever reason, SmartThings thinks the lock is a TV and get's confused. IDK if this Amazon tweaking the device ID to work with the camera, but it's fixable. After adding the lock as "Thing" go the smartthings portal from a browser. Find the device you just added and click on it. You'll see a device ID that says "Samsung TV" . Click on the dropdown and find "Lock without keycode". Click save, and you're all set!so, this would be 5 stars across the board if you didn't have to tweak the ID and it was the Z Wave version

It's decent.
Got this as part of an Amazon Key set as my first smart deadbolt, and I'm pretty well pleased with my purchase.Pros:- Allows me to control the lock remotely from the Amazon Key app, as well as lock the door with Alexa.- Allows me to give permanent or temporary 'keys' to guys and/or family members- Alerts me whenever the door is locked or unlocked other than by myself via the app. This applies both when done manually or via a digital 'key,' with the latter also telling me who locked or unlocked the door.- Looks good on my door, without having to replace my exterior of my deadbolt- Extra screws provided (for when you eventually lose one [you WILL lose one])Cons:- Installation was a bit tricky. I had to fumble with the interior of my lock quite a bit to get it to fit just right, and it was still a tight fit when it came to securing the exterior panel in the house- Does not allow more than one person to have app access/notifications. (I had to make my wife a permanent 'guest' rather than her being able to log in herself.)- Deadbolt is a little tight, manually. (The motor works fine and all, but the actual lever inside the house is a bit harder to turn than my previous, non 'smart' deadbolt.

Has potential but could be better
I bought this product in order to be able to give access to by Condo to my girlfriend (plus it is a cool tech item, lol). While a failure in that regard, two months out I still have mixed feeling with regards to my purchase. To start off with the install was fairly complex, but doable for the average user. I had the misfortune/fortune, to have bought a different version of this lock previously (which is a different story) with the instructions only written in Spanish (which I unfortunately can't read). While that was frustrating it did make the installation of this lock fairly easy, as I learned from my previous experience from the other lock.Pairing it to the hub (which I bought separately) was fairly easy, and so was issuing the keys. Overall ascetically it's one of the best smart lock options out there, it's easy to use, allows for easy touch keyless entry, and for remote monitoring/key issuance. Those are the pros, the cons so far after two months (and why we are now back to physical keys at least as a backup) as I can tell are two, and for which I subtracted on star each. The first is that for a $200 purchase you shouldn't have to shell out another $100 for a separate hub to get remote non-Bluetooth access. At the $200 mark it already ranks as one of the more expense smart home purchases that you can make, and at $300 (with the hub) it's just ridiculous for what it is.The second and less serious (but perhaps even more annoying) is that they either need to pack better complimentary batteries with the lock or make you buy your own separately. About two weeks after I bought the lock, the lock began experiencing connectivity issues with the hub and a week or so later died. As I suspected, it was the batteries, and after replacing them with Amazon Basic rechargeable batteries (a good investment btw if you seriously into the smart home world as everything seems to run off of batteries) it started working again and I haven't had a problem since. At a $200 price point, in my opinion they should at least provide you with a decent set of batteries if they are going to bother. I also suspect, given the similarity of my issues to many of the reviews I read before buying, that Kwikset could eliminate a substantial number of complaints about their product and improve user reviews substantially by just providing purchasers with better batteries (and thus increase sales in the process). It's sad such an easy fix goes overlooked for an otherwise great product.Overall I would describe it as a potentially great product with lots of potential. At a better price point and with different batteries, it could be great.

Nice product, but was not new
A little disappointed to find my NEW lock was actually opened and repackaged.Really should have made it clear it was a shop seconds, or opened pack. One adapter kit was repackaged in a sandwich ziplock bag.I have discovered i need and additional piece to make it work with the kwikset 985 deadbolt. Not sure if it was supposed to be in the box or not.

Issues with not recieving published zigbee commands
Using this with home assistant with Zigbee2mqtt. Reguarly it will just no respond to commands published for no reason. Will work well for ages then just 2 weeks of hit or miss, then back to fine.EDIT: I've changed my rating to 2 stars from free, as the turning component of the lock is plastic it has worn out after a year.
