I like how I can do a blow dried straight look and put some curls in… and tou can create a variety of different curls. And then when I leave my hair naturally curly it adds so much flavor and bounce to the little curls that aren’t really popping on their own. I use the want and I can create NATURAL looking accent curls. Love this thing. The tapered tip is everything for the natural look

I usually just use a straightener on my hair but I really wanted to try a curling wand as I love the look of beach wave hair. What I didn't realize was how difficult this product is to use! I thought it would be simply twirling my hair on it, but it's so much more. I am used to using a curling iron that I can clamp down my hair with, but you have nothing to hold the hair onto the wand with. You have to twist the hair around it. Thank goodness it comes with a heat resistant glove to help! My first tries were very unsuccessful. I did some research and watched quite a few youtube tutorials on this. There are plenty of tutorials online and they were very helpful. I am now able to create better curls, but it will still take me more practice to achieve the look I really want and to be more efficient at it. I do have medium lengthed, thick hair, and I don't think this is the best product for my hair type. The product itself is great. It has many different heat settings and it heats up quickly. The curl does hold well. I also like how it has an easy to use stand so you can set it down on you counter without worrying. Overall I personally would not buy this product as it's a bit more complicated than I have time for as a working mom of two young children. If you have time to really learn it, or if you are already proficient with using a curling wand, then this is an excellent product for you.

I guess there’s a learning curve with this, but I do not like this style of curling iron and could not achieve the curls I wanted; in fact, they looked horrible . I didn’t bother to return it, because I had to destroy the box to remove it. Do not recommend.

The HOT TOOLS Professional Black Gold Spiral Curling Iron + Wand, 3/4 Inch did not impress me. This was the first time I have ever had/used a wand-like this. I did go to you-tube and watched a few videos on how to use before trying this on my daughter's hair. It does take a bit of trial and error to figure out how to hold the wand and which hand the gloves go on. You should hold this with the long trip down, so upside down in your hair then wrap hair until you reach the end, I held for 10 seconds and these are the results I got. These curls did not hold as well and they looked really frizzy as the finished product. I used the temperature of 400 since she has thick hair and I thought that the curls should have held better and longer for that high of heat. It does have 4 different temperatures and the glove comes with. It does heat up within 60 seconds and stays heated the entire time. I will practice more with it but again I was not happy with the results

Hot Tools makes the best curling devices, and this Black Gold spiral curling iron is no exception. It heats up incredibly quickly, has a dial to set the temperature best for your hair, and has a swivel base to help you maneuver it. The 3/4" barrel has a tapered end to make sure the hair ends get the same spiral curl as the rest. While the barrel is too thick to get spirals out of shorter or layered hair, it's perfect for shoulder-length and longer. Note that this is a curling wand, not a clip-iron, and that alone makes it more difficult for shorter hair. Even though this is designed for spiral curls, you can use the barrel for regular curling and waves -- you just have to hold it differently.The "Black Gold" line of Hot Iron tools is their top-of-the-line as of this writing. When you turn it on, the light blinks rapidly to show that it is heating up, then glows solid when it reaches the correct temperature. Although mine reaches a 375 temperature in about 20 seconds, the instructions say that you should let it heat up for a full 60 seconds before use. That's fast, even if you wait for the full minute.I find it impossible to follow the directions on the product page of pointing the handle to the sky and then wrapping the hair from bottom to top. The wrapping is the problem. I simply cannot wrap my hair that way. Instead, I start at the top and wind the hair to the bottom.This comes with a heat-protecting glove to protect your hands from accidental touches. It has a safety feature that will automatically turn it off after two hours. Yes, that's a long time, but keep in mind that professionals use this.My hair stylist uses only Hot Tools curlers because she says they last forever. This is a great Curling wand. I love the sleek design and the packaging was great. Has several wonderful features such as the longer cooling tip. It really helps cut down on the number of burns and allows the hair cool down faster for longer lasting curls. It came with glove that makes holding your hair while it cools down a breeze. The glove also kept me from burning my fingers while wrapping my hair around the wand. It is NOT meant for direct contact with the wand and you for sure shouldn't grab the wand with it or set the wand down on it. Only provides protection for short simple grazes. Love the swivel cord makes using this so easy. The little flip down bar is nice so you can set it down without burning the counter top. It does have an auto shut off, but is after two hours as this brand is used by a lot of professional hair stylists. It also has a nice heat range making it easy to style any hair type. This wand heats up quickly and also cools down quickly which I enjoy. I have some curling Irons I have to leave out for at least an hour before it's cool enough to put away. Only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the high price. This is a great product and I definitely would recommend it!
