Triple Eight ExoSkin Shin & Whip Guard, Small

My lower legs are so scarred up from years of pedal bites, brush stabs, etc and as I have gotten older my skin tears more easily. I don’t fall on my knees much and most knee pads don’t extend past mid shin. I have worn G form shin guards which help but their fabric is quite thin and I have been cut right through them many times. These guards are brilliant ! I don’t do bike acrobatics so I removed the plastic inserts on the side and put them in the front pocket for a lower profile. That left plenty of thick protective material on the sides and back.. The velcro fasteners allow for a good fit and the guards are very comfortable without any rub spots. I am female with smaller legs and the size Small work well. They actually rest on my shoes which is fine. I don’t notice them being warm as I don’t wear anything else on my legs. I wish I had found these years ago !

Bought this for my son who is only 5' tall and super skinny. I bought Small and it fit him well, he loves the extra protection. He likes to go fast and crashes a lot, since getting nice VP pedals, he tore up his sheens a few times. These have helped him nicely to be more aggressive on a bike. Also they are great for going on low grass trails, when you go fast the grass cuts your sheens, these guards have nice side guards which protects your skin.

Using this for parkour and rollerblading when I need heavy protection. Works great, stays on, doesn't get in the way. Only complaint is the velcro straps are too short for adult legs (I have are average calves) and could use 3 instead of 4 straps. It is a little annoying to undo 4 straps.

As I started to move up the ladder on skate tricks to learn... my shins started to really take a beating—especially while learning varial flips. I initially didn't want to spend this much on some shin guards, but they're 100% worth it. To any of you who learned FS pop-shuvits without these things... what kind of metal are your shins made out of??

Concerning protection, these are some of the best shin guards I've used and I've been riding for 25 years. However, the stitching around the pocket that holds the rigid protective insert, has been completely shredded. This happened after one crash. Triple Eight needs to figure that part out and reinforce the stitching. I would have given this product a five if it had not been for the stitching problem. Also, they need to make an XL version. I'm only 5'6" but my calves are 17 and 1/2 inches at the widest point. In order to make these work, I went to a crafting store and purchased 2 inch by 4 inch velcro strips. They had sticky backing so I stuck a hook strip and a loop strip back to back. This gave me an extension on the velcro and works great. Once again the pads themselves are great other than the stitching.
