C'est Pas Moi, Je Le Jure! / It's Not Me, I Swear!

It takes a while for the full scope of the mother - son relationship to open up and for the roles of the older brother and father to fill in. I will definitely watch this a few more times to see if I understand it. I did think some of the content was unnecessarily extreme and overdone. By that I mean the boy's vandalism was excessive and not very realistic in consequences.

A suicidal self destructive 10 year old would hardly seem like the stuff of comedy but this surprising film manages to bring it off while still conveying the underlying sadness and desperation of the principal character.

Great movie, crazy the things the star, sad he wanted to kill himself. All in all a good film to watch for any film buff

One of my Favorites.. Very good Movie

I'm a huge fan of French-Canadian/Quebec cinema and this is one of the best coming-of-age films I've seen in ages. Dark, funny and unforgettable, this one holds a special place in my collection.

This movie to me is right up there with Juzo Itami's Tampopo as one of the best, richest, oddest, most satisfying movies ever made. It is full of humour and wonder, yet it delves deep into the mysterious pitfalls of human life - stress, separation, and the nearly insurmountable problem of surviving being ourselves. There's no Sartre-esque heaviness in the way Philippe Falardeau puts this all together - no, it's a magical journey that just happens to include suicide attempts and the vandalizing of neighbours' homes - as well as tentative love, beneficent nature, and friendly weird people. Léon, the 10-year-old main character, achingly misses his mother who has separated from his father and gone to travel in Greece; and his own life unexpectedly becomes an Odyssey as he sets off with Lea, a girl who intrigues him, to travel to the mysterious place where she thinks her missing father may be.The quirkiness that has caused this movie to escape being recognized as a masterpiece only adds to its masterpiece value.

Transport rapide. J'ai acheté ce film par ce que j'ai contribué à la confection des cerfs-volants. Je l'ai offert à mon père pour qu'il puisse voir mon travail. Nous avons regardé le film ensemble avec beaucoup de plaisir.
