So if you have been collecting the MCU art books all along, there's no reason to buy this other than for the sake of completeness.But if you are new to these books or did not purchase all of the books for each individual movie, then this compilation book will get you caught up at a more affordable price than buying each book separately. And I encourage you to buy it if you missed any of the early Phase One books that are now out of print.Of course, you're giving up a lot of content: each of the Marvel films on their own has enough art to justify an entire book. With this you're only getting several dozen pages of art per film, so you're going to be missing a lot of great imagery - although the selection of included artwork is pretty great.Obviously, Marvel scheduled this around the release of "Age of Ultron". As a result, the book sticks to things that are related to the new film. The book is very character-driven: including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, etc.Things that are not important to the "Age of Ultron" film are not included in the book; for example, no content is included from "Guardians of the Galaxy"; nor is there any time spent on any of the villains from previous films. This art book is very detailed with the design ideas, concepts, and inside thinking into the evolution of the Avenger's characters. I never purchased the first foray into Marvel's art books, so I missed a lot of early material those provided. I mention this because I don't know if some of the material presented here repeats itself at all. However, since the first generation of Marvel art books based on Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and The Avenger's are more expensive than I'm willing to currently spend separately for each art book... this one fits that bill for me just fine.The book gives great drawings, computer concept renderings, and some insights into the thinking from the design team members for each character as well. I think this is a great book that compliments my current Marvel collection, as it's material I hadn't previously seen or read about. I'm guessing that this book covers the early works from previous books, since each chapter introduces each Avenger as if they're being presented for the first time... then eventually evolving to their current status & look.I definitely recommend this book for those who missed getting the first series of separate film art books, like me.

Dam it looks great and has A LOT of content.+Has EVERY hero+Lots of concept art+beautiful layouts and composition+Satisfying amount of pages.-No Bucky :(-Sidekicks/side characters dont have much concept art but its a minor issue.all-in-all great book to own if you dont have all previous movie-art books.

It's good but it's more of a quick history lesson, If your a fan it's a must have as these books for all of the movies are all limited editions. As for the content it just touches in to each of the avengers movies, so if you have the other 'art of' books your going to be left disappointed. As for the book it's well made and has some great pictures in it.

...e cioè che il libro, di per se, non presenta materiale nuovo, bensì una selezione di materiale già raccolto nei volumi precedenti della serie (ovvero: The Art of Iron Man, The Art of Iron Man 2, The Art of Iron Man 3, The Art of Captain America: The First Avenger, The Art of Captain America: The Winter Solider, The Art of Thor, The Art of Thor: The Dark World, The Art of Marvel's The Avengers).Per chi ha già collezionato il resto degli artbook, questo libro non aggiunge nulla. Le immagini raccolte sono comunque molto belle!Il libro si divide in 6 parti: Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye e "gli alleati", ovvero War Machine, Fury, Maria Hill e Falcon. La parte dedicata ad Iron Man è sicuramente la più lunga ed esaustiva. Anche la parte dedicata a War Machine a fine libro è di sicuro la più completa, fra tutti gli alleati, e bellissima da vedere.Il libro è un "riassunto" dei volumi precedenti, e traccia la "Via verso Age of Ultron", come dice il titolo. E' un libro dedicato principalmente agli Avengers, quindi mi rendo conto che fosse impossibile inserire tutti gli alleati. Eppure un'illustrazione qua e là ritraente (almeno) Pepper, Bucky, Peggy, gli Howling Commandos, Sif ed i 3 Guerrieri, sarebbe stata una bella aggiunta.Si sente la mancanza, a mio avviso, di una parte, anche se piccola, dedicata al curatissimo design dei nemici - Whiplash/Ivan Vanko, il Winter Soldier, il Teschio Rosso, Loki, gli Elfi neri, per citarne alcuni - ed alle loro armi o armamenti.In ogni segmento troviamo principalmente studi dei costumi: veri e propri dipinti digitali, rifiniti, dettagliatissimi e completamente colorati. Non troverete nulla di poco definito od incompleto. Pochissime le immagini in scala di grigio, e si contano sulla punta delle dita le bozze e gli schizzi. Pochissime purtroppo anche le illustrazioni vere e proprie ed i keyframe. Le poche presenti sono però bellissime, e si allargano su due pagine per poter meglio apprezzare i dettagli.La parte scritta (in lingua inglese), offre alcune considerazioni sul processo creativo, opinioni ed esperienze del team.In definitiva: un libro molto bello che offre un quantitativo non indifferente di materiale, tutto di ottima qualità, ad un prezzo accessibile. Consigliato agli amanti dei film Marvel, specialmente a chi non ha mai comprato nessun artbook della serie.

I have to say a public thank you to Marvel for this volume. I discovered this series of excellent books just a year ago and while I have purchased everyone I could get my hands on, the earlier ones are almost impossible to find. Along comes this book which explores the design process for all the Marvel studios films on all the main characters. Kind of a greatest hits book, it gives the fans a chance to see the creative process in bringing them to the screen. A wonderful experience.

Excellent buy if you are an Avengers afficianado - artwork is spectacular.
