I have thick relaxed Afroamerican hair, and a lot of hair. I tested this flat iron with my almost 3 year old 1 1/2 inch Babyliss nano titanium flat iron and I must say that it stands to it and exceeded my expectations. I was doubtful as my last experience with a Karmin ceramic flat iron was very bad due to the thickness of my hair, and I didn't want to spend $200+ on a GHD flat iron.This HSI heats very quick, and I tested it up to the highest heat setting and it made it in less than 5 minutes. The pouch is very good, I placed the flat iron in it right after turning it off and it didn't get affected. I as well turned it inside out and used it to place the flat iron on it all the time while I was using it at 370-410 degrees Fahrenheit and it was a great base. I didn't test the glove as I didn't have need because the flat iron did not get hot in the handles where you are supposed to hold it with your hands. It is very light, I normally take 1 hour to do my hair and I didn't get the arm pain I normally get with my Babyliss.In comparison with my 1 1/2 inch Babyliss nano titanium, this HSI flat iron leaves my hair silkier, smoother and softer, whenever I apply my heat protector I barely heard the frying noise that I always heard with my Babyliss, and that was a great relieve; it did not pull out my hair ends and I could count with my one hand the hair that came out while using his flat iron.I believe that it's a great machine, it doesn't mistreat hair as long as you have proper heat protection, it doesn't get hot in the handles where you're supposed to put your hands. I would liked the flat iron angle to be wider, as I have thick hair and if I'd like to iron all my ends, it's a little bit difficult. The digital screen could've been placed on the top of one of the angles, however it's still clear to read it and the buttons are very easy to use. The temperature maintained throughout the whole time. The light is blue while the machine is increasing or decreasing heat and it turns and maintains green as long as it's on the assigned heat setting. It's easy to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius and turn on or off the auto shut off.For the price, I'd definitely buy this again. My thick and relaxed Afroamerican hair is straight and smooth. So it's a win win!

The best flat iron, hands down. Works SO well with the HSI heat protector spray (I spray that on my damp freshly washed hair, blow dry all, then flat iron all - hair comes out so slick and shiny! Just like salon) I got the pink one, very cute packaging and sturdy construction. Comes with great satin/fleece storage bag that you can put the flat iron in even while its still a little hot which is convenient for when you quickly have to pack up and go. After a year of usage, the plates are still like new. I like the LCD screen that lets you know how hot it is and when its ready. Gets super hot, over 400 degrees (way more than you need, even for course and kinky hair) You can control the temperature by pushing the buttons of the screen up or down) and the screen will flash blue or green to show you when its ready or still changing as you see the numbers change on the screen too. The best thing is that because of the automatic dual voltage I've been able to travel across the globe with this to various continents (europe, middle east, south america, africa, North America, ive used it almost everywhere!) without worrying about compatibility, all you need is a little adapter so that the prongs fit into the wall plug of wherever you are and it works fine without dealing with risky voltage converters. Found this flat iron after I got fed up that my Chi flat irons kept falling apart on me every few months for years, and am so glad I did. Havent needed to buy another one since, and have actually purchased to gift to friends. A good reliable flat iron is valuable and so hard to come by. Extra points for seamlessly working internationally in some very challenging countries.

As someone with very thick, wavy hair, I've gone through many, many straighteners. This is definitely one of the best ones I've used.Pros: great LED screen that always shows you the temperature. Because my hair is so thick, I need the hottest setting (450 degrees F) to straighten it. The screen lets me know to wait to ensure the best temp for my hair.This straightener also leaves my hair VERY smooth. Because of the ceramic plate, it leaves my hair very silky and soft.My favorite feature: it turns off automatically if I leave it out too long. Because I had so much hair it takes around 20+ minutes to straighten it. So on many occasions I've well... left many flat irons on all day on accident. Now that I have a baby I'm more grateful than ever for this feature. Safety is a huge concern for me and this flat iron is perfect!Cons: the only major problem that I have is that because my hair is so thick, when I do straighten it, each run through my hair lowers the temp significantly when I use it. Therefore it does take a little longer to do my hair (but I can forgive since it does a good job AND that it lets me know once it's hot again).Overall this flat iron is well worth the money and has so far working just as perfectly as it did when I first bought it. (I do straighten my hair almost every day)
