great welder
I've only had this for a couple of days so this is very much a first impressions review but I have to say I am impressed. Firstly it included a neat folding welding mask that I wasn't expecting. Nice if you don't already have a welding helmet. I use an automatic helmet so I've kept the little folding one just in case. Secondly, the ground clamp is very much better than I was expecting. Its a proper welding clamp, not the cheap looking clip shown in some of the pictures. Makes a big difference having a good earth so I'm very pleased it came with a proper clamp. The electrode holder itself is also a good quality professional feeling item. The welder itself is tiny, light and seems well made. The arc is easy to strike with a quick scratch, the current is nicely adjustable, the weld is very controllable. I mainly weld for fun fixing and restoring landrovers I also use a mig but this is likely to be better for chassis work outdoors if its a bit windy. Nice welder, happy to recommend.

It works well
Had this a couple of months now. My first welder. Impressed. Have run with 6010 and 6013 rods upto 4mm. It's never overheated and will run at 200amps without tripping a 13A breaker through a normal domestic plug. The welder and cables feel quality. The supplied mask and hammer are crap and went straight in the bin (basically buy an auto helmet, good gauntlets and a welding apron when you order). The welder is about the size of a big toaster so takes up very little bench space. The leads are a decent length.First thing I did was knock up a crude welding table out of 50x3mm flat bar. Given this was my first ever welding it turned out fine and has made life easier when practicing. I've mostly been making plant supports out of 30mm BBS and 6mm roundstock. The hot start and anti stick makes it fairly easy to get a rod started although 6013 better when hot. 6010 dead easy to start from cold but less easy to control when running. Holding an arc takes a bit of practice with either.I've found this welder just works. Only criticism would be I'd prefer the power switch to be on the front panel.Last thing: whilst obviously wearing appropriate ppe is a no brainer, I hadn't realized just how strong the UV can be, make sure you have no exposed skin open to the arc light. The 'sunburn' is a real thing to be avoided. I had a hole in my shirt and really, really regretted that.

Great welder
Bought to replace my aging stick welder, but only really as this one is so much smaller and therefore easier to store and move around. As far as using it, weld beads are much neater than I used to achieve, and I'm no welder, only doing so infrequently. It also strikes /starts more readily, though I do find it can still stick to the work a few times until the rod is warmed up.Didn't come with a storage case as I had hoped, but small enough for that to be OK for me.I've found it a breeze to use with 2.5mm rod on thick angle section steel at 80A.If, like me, you don't get enough practice with a welder to perfect your welding I can recommend this as it makes welding that much easier than older machines.

Light weight and easy to use welder
I have used this welder a good bit and am happy with how the machine works. The AMP gauge could be a little misleading however it does what is needed. Ensure that you have the right cathode plugged in the correct place. I also found that decent welding rods, heated up, certainly make striking the arc really easy with a nice flowing weld. Worth the money in terms of being able to do the job myself than paying someone to do it and have the welder :-)

Just Buy It!
Cheap as chips, decent quality and a superb welder for those light and not-so-light jobs. This thing is seriously small, but don't let that put you off or make you think this little baby isn't up to much; it can weld 5mm plate all day and deliver great, consistent results on a high duty-cycle; what's not to like? One thing though is the carrying strap that comes with it instead of a handle; I removed the strap and put a handle on the top surface - a much better solution for day to day use. I should also mention that both the earth and rod leads are decent quality, if only a little on the short side, but for around £30, you can get yourself a decent welding lead. Sorted. As for the welding mask and hammer that comes with the welder; they're both total junk, so just throw them in the bin right away!

Welder
What a brilliant piece of kit, needed it to build some seat brackets for a motorcycle I’m working on, great excuse to get some more equipment, size is unbelievable so tiny.Haven’t used a welder since I retired over 15 years ago, set it up and done a trial run and it was a bit lumpy, completely down to my inexperience, altered the polarity on the leads as you can on this machine and it was a lot better, a few adjustments on the power and it was giving good welds.Someone with more experience will do a far better job, but a bit of dressing up and it does the job fine, I went for the 180amp, better to have the power and turn it down than not to have enough.I was working with 4mm mild steel and 2.5mm SIP welding rods, might even have got away with 2mm rods.If your thinking about getting a welder do it it’s a no brainer at this price £60.00.

Lovely little welder
I purchased this welder as the old suitcase welder I have since the 1970’s had finally given up the ghost . I researched the sets available and chose this one. I read all the pros and cons from previous purchasers. In my opinion it is great it is light , easy to use . One buyer mentioned you have to have the amps up higher than you should . I am a welder by trade , my old set would not burn lo hydrogen rods , this set does if you have the amps up a bit , with a normal mildtrode the amps were about right. Overall I have been impressed with this set and I think it is good value for money , if I was to be overly picky the leads could be a couple of feet longer , but are more than adequate for home use
