Aqua-Pure Reverse Osmosis System APRO5500

If you're purchasing this filter to protect your health, consider the choices that were made in designing this filter. We've had this filter installed for almost a year, and this morning I noticed a weird flicker where the water exits the spigot. Upon closer inspection, this flicker turned out to be a large piece of chrome plating that was flaking off from the tip used on the output spigot. This tip is plastic, and is coated with a process known as PVD (physical vapor deposition) and I'm assuming in this case that the metal is chromium. This was an alarming development, as the last thing I want my child (or me) to be ingesting in our water is flaking chromium particles, yet this is what was happening. I removed the plastic tip with a vice and could clearly see the flaking metal on the inside. wiping the inside of this tip produced a whole bunch of metal sparkles that lead me to believe that this component was probably leaching flakes of metal into our water for many months.I'm an engineer myself, and I design products for a living, and this choice by the manufacturer to include this component (plastic with a metal plating finish), and further to not properly test this component for durability over the life of the filter system is alarming to say the least. It makes me wonder what other decisions were made in the design that drift from the primary goal of producing drinking water that is free from pollutants and toxic elements.I'd steer clear of this filter, or buy it and rip the plastic tip off the dispenser spigot before the plating starts peeling off.

HUGE space taker under the sink & the faucet leaks, loudly back gurgles then dribbles all over counter. Wish we'd never installed it. Had to have another ugly hole drilled in our beautiful granite island to accommodate CHROME (bleck!) faucet. Water tastes good but the 3M Aqua-Pure Whole House Water Filtration System would have been enough to give us great tasting water.

Expensive, but it works well and no leak. This is my 1st month and I do not have any problem with it. Had Watt premier and exchanged 3 times and all leaks...Still no leak and works well after 2 years. Concerned as the other review that the spigot is flaking chrome. Ours isn't flaking yet and I removed the spigot tip.

Hopefully, doing what it's supposed to be doing. However, you dump 6 GALLONS of water to every 2 Gallons you are storing. Did not know this and was not told this when I called 3M to discuss best model for my house.

We love this filter. Water tastes great!I decided to go with the Aqua-Pure since it has WQA certification and is manufactured by the 3M (the brand I trust).Installed it myself and installation was very easy. The toughest part was to secure a tiny drinking water faucet it came with to the sink. Whole process took me about 45 minutes.Filter came with the 1/2" water supply line adapter, but since my kitchen faucet uses 3/8" connectors - I had to run to Home Depot and purchase a new dual-output shut-off valve (3/8" and 1/4") so I could hook up the filter.

I like this product.easy install,well performance.I bought it for 441.95$.But it's 398.90$,now. The price have dropped nearly 50 $ in a month.

We are very pleased with it. Using it for coffee, and other drinks.
