Makita LE00855702 Green/Red Line Laser Detector

I got this for a retaining wall project that I'm working on mostly solo.It's outside and sunny but the reader works perfectly. Maybe a little too perfectly. I only get solid tone in a 3 mm range. For a 60 foot long retaining wall it's overkill.Highly recommend though.PS Make sure your laser is set to 'Pulse' or the receiver won't work.

I never really thought my green beam would be a proper transit, but when I saw that makita made a laser reader I figured I’d give it a shot. Works great. Controls and beeps are just like all the others I’ve used. It could detect my beam from about 40 yards away before I ran out of room.

Only reason for four stars instead of five is that it took a little while to figure out I had to change a setting on my Bosch laser for it to read with this reader. That was nowhere in either of the instructions. My expectation is that Makita would anticipate that their reader would be used with other brands of lasers and put some sort of caution in the instructions.

I’ve given this 1 star simply because it won’t work with either of my Dewalt laser levels.I have 2 different Dewalt lasers. A red rotary and a solid green(Model DW089LG).My Johnson laser detector works with my red rotary laser, but both of the Makita detectors I received would not. Not sure if I just managed to just get 2 different defective detectors or not, but neither would work for me, despite the lasers being in the receiving frequency listed on the detector. I ordered one that seemed brand new from the packaging and I exchanged it for a second one that had clearly been previously opened.I really hoped it would work for me. Lots of nice options on this detector.

So interestingly enough this receiver looks identical to one of Leica’s laser receivers. This receiver may be good but it doesn’t work with my SK209GD. They sell a totally different funky looking receiver for that specific laser only.
