Great For Teachers
I am a 3rd grade teacher at a school with a ton of steps, my room is on the 4th floor. I am usually at school from 7am-6 or 7pm. I run around all day and I am on my feet all day and if I wear flats my feet hurt so bad at the end of the day. I'd rather sacrifice having cute shoes to be an efficient and happy teacher. I got these because I have a purple pair of ASICS that I love and wanted a pair of all black shoes that I knew would be comfortable (the same size as my other ASICS fit well). These are perfect, I like how they are all black (a lot of other black shoes have some accents or reflectors on them) so they blend in and its not very noticeable I am wearing sneakers (I wear black pants most days), but most importantly they are comfortable and I've never once had pain in them, even after the end of a 12 hour day of being at school. They held up great for the past 8 months, until now when my puppy decided to use them as a chew toy, now are a little frayed on the sides and I will definitely be ordering a new pair.

After three months, started cutting into my ankles -- I had to stop wearing them.
I have a pair of Merrell sneakers that I really adore, but with two drawbacks: (1) They have wild-colored stripes that look very 2014, and (2) My feet get very hot when I wear them to sit still or drive. So I wanted to find similar sneakers that were solid black -- my favorite color for shoes -- and that wouldn't heat up my feet when I was sitting still. After a lot of thought and asking some questions, I settled on these ASICS shoes. At first these shoes were almost as comfortable as the Merrells. But after just three months, the top edges of the ASICS started cutting into my ankles. The more I wore the ASICS, the worse it got. Finally, after only three months, I declared the ASICS shoes un-wearable.What happened? I don't understand why over time they started digging into my ankles when they were fine at first. My best guess is that the soles of these shoes compressed over time and got thinner, which made my feet lower down in the shoes and increased the distance from the bottom to the top of the shoe. I don't know if shoes would really do that, but it is the only explanation that I can think of.I did like how these shoes looked! And they were comfortable at first -- until suddenly they weren't anymore, after only three months.Another thing I didn't like about these shoes is that when I first opened the package, there was an incredibly strong smell of chemicals that made me think of underpaid workers in unsafe conditions in far-away countries. I left the shoes sitting on my back porch for a few days, when they first arrived, to offgas the nasty smell. After a few days the smell dissipated and I could wear the shoes. So, overall, I ended up very unhappy with these shoes, for several reasons.Oh, and they did heat up my feet when I wore them to sit still or drive -- though not as much as the Merrells do.Meanwhile, I've had the Merrells for a year and a half of very heavy usage. They look brand new, and are still as comfortable as having a sturdy, protective cloud around my feet -- though a cloud that does get hot from time to time. Next time I'll buy Merrells in the first place.Disclaimer: I am not in any way connected to Merrell, other than as a satisfied customer.

Handsome shoe but not a true "wide"
I'm a size 9 (occasionally a half-size down or up) over-pronator with a wide forefoot and an average heel, so I look for stability, motion control, and arch support in a running shoe in a wide size (D). I've had good experiences with some men's Asics in a medium width, but I liked the looks of this women's shoe so much that I decided to try it. I do love the looks, but alas, the D size isn't a true wide, which I can usually wear: while the size-9 length of these fits me well, both the toe box and midsection are so narrow that the shoe is too snug even with thin socks. They are extremely breathable because they're mesh, but because of that I'm not sure they'd stretch enough even with a professional stretcher to be wearable with crew socks, and they'd be quite uncomfortable to work out in.Correction: I got these in a size 9.5. So even though I'm normally a size 9, that would be way too tight in this shoe. Also, perhaps because they're all-mesh, they don't offer as much stability and cushioning as most of the Asics I've had, which is surprising, considering that on another website the manufacturers says they're "Built for mild to moderate overpronator who requires a blend of enhanced cushioning and stability." I didn't notice either one. I would have loved to be able to keep these shoes, but I'll have to return them and either go back to wearing men's sneakers or find something in a true wide.PROS: Beautiful shoe, good price, looks great if you can wear it.CONS: Not a true wide even if labeled "D"; less cushioning and compensation for pronation than some descriptions indicate.

Definitely going to buy again
I will definitely be buying this again when it wears out. The first wearing, the shoe is a bit stiff, but after half a day, it softens up and is very comfortable thereafter. I have spent an entire day walking in these, around the Grand Canyon, shopping, wandering an art museum. The next day, my feet weren't sore, and neither was my back.I ordered a 5.5, based on the fit expectations, but that turned out to be about a half size too large. It's a good thing I wear thick socks in the winter. By the time these are worn out, it will be summer and I can order the 5 instead for wearing with thinner socks. The arch is sufficient for me- I have a long, high arch, and this is the first pair of shoes I've gotten that didn't feel as if there were a rock in the middle of my arch. I didn't even need to get inserts for them.
