Original Philips Lamp/Bulb/Housing for Sony XL-5200, XL-5200U

This review is for the Sony replacement bulb sold by Ness Electronics in Minnesota, fulfilled by Amazon. If you have a different seller then I can't speak for them. The Sony replacement bulb shipped by Ness is absolutely the OEM Philips bulb in the housing. I ordered my first replacement bulb from Ness in Spring 2011, bulb worked great and was still going in Fall 2015 but brightness was fading and there was some flicker. Ordered my second replacement bulb from Ness in September 2015 (so over 4 years after the first replacement) and again received exactly as advertised, newly boxed OEM Philips replacement bulb in housing. Picture is much brighter and improved with this newest bulb (which was $40 cheaper than I paid in 2011), shipped to my house with standard free shipping in 2 days, a week before other items shipped by Amazon. I expect this bulb to last another 4 years, and am tempted to buy a backup bulb in case Philips stops making them. Bottom line, Ness is reliable, competitively priced, and will send you the Philips bulb (in housing) that your TV came with. I've read reviews about others selling knock-offs in reused Philips boxes, cheaper no-name bulbs that last 3 months, etc. To me it's not worth taking a chance on a cheap bulb or sketchy seller to save $20--for peace of mind and a great product buy this bulb from Ness. UPDATE: The screen cleaner they throw in with your purchase is a great bonus for cleaning TVs, phones, and my new touch-screen laptop.

Bought a cheap bulb to test if the issue I was having (frequent cut-off of the video) was just a bad bulb - FIxed the problem but was so dark and dull the TV was almost unwatchable. Purchased this bulb and after installation the picture was 100% better. It was as bright as the original and the color was so much better because of that. We'll see how it lasts, but I'm happy so far. The only drawback was the packaging allowed the little bracket that holds the connector to break in shipment. I just took the bracket off the old one and put it on the new one - no worries.

If I could give this product 10 stars I would. I purchased my 52 in. sony TV from a well know store along with a $350.00 service contract. When the bulb needed changing I would call them to change the bulb and of course when I asked if I could purchase a bulb I was told the bulb was very expensive about or over $300 for the bulb alone. I decided to check amazon because you can find almost anything you are looking for at Amazon and discovered that amazon sell the bulb and it is very inexpensive. Of course I cancelled my repair contract with this company and have been ordering from Amazon ever since. This is a great bulb. Actually the life of the bulb I purchase from amazon last at least 3 times longer the one I received under my service contract. If you are being ripped off, I recommend that you give this bulb a try. You won't be disappointed.. It is also very easy to install.

I've had my TV for around 10 years. It does the job, but like all DLP's the bulbs to burn out. A couple years ago I went with a cheap replacement. Then another and another... those just don't last. I had one that worked, but it was super dim and flickered. I bought this one and was worried it would be just another cheap bulb in a fake Phillips box. I was super happy to see this is the real deal. My TV is brighter than I knew it could be. It was strongly considering dumping this TV for a new one. This bulb replacement transformed my picture in seconds and gave new life to my set.Avoid the cheap version and get this from Ness right way.

I have purchased from various vendors, $20-$30 lamps, assuming they are all the sam - wrong! After dull pictures and/or short lives with these inespenve bulbs, these original bulbs were the significant difference for the better. The "backlit" TV's full strength comes from the high intensity lamp that drives it. Putting in a good, original bulb is like having a brand new TV again! What a difference. It may last 2-3 years but for $90-$100 a pop, it makes it well worth the investment (in the past year I spent that much on cheaper bulbs and never had the quality picture I get now). This set now looks as good as it did when it first caused my heart to pump faster!

We ordered this lamp/bulb/housing for our ancient DLP Sony TV. The first order arrived broken, and it was replaced.The second order arrived just fine, and installed with some difficulty, mainly because the metal components on the housing were very flimsy and not comparable to the original lamp/housing that we removed from the TV. This is definitely not a manufacturer quality replacement.

As others stated, This did NOT come in the nice Phillips box shown and no "free screen cleaner", but that was not a deal breaker anyway. As expected as far as quality goes, it seems alright. I tried the cheap ones for 1/3 the cost and honestly do not notice a huge difference. Time will tell if it lasts any longer than the much lower cost bulbs.

Although the bulb is better than one I purchased two years ago...it was not packaged as if it was new. The amazon ad showed a Philips box...this hints that it is used bulb...now makes fourth time I have purchased skeptical bulb. the first three were horrible! two failed in a week...they were 425 each...the third last llonger but was very very dark.
