Upper Deck 2019 Legendary: 007, James Bond Deck-Building Game, Multi

The 007 set is a nice way to start building towards a new game to play with others

The theme for a Bond fan works out great. There are eight different scenarios, so the game is replayable. It is a a deck building game which takes a little of a learning curve. The game however is not ready to play out of the box. The cards are all jumbled together and took a while to separate into the correct scenarios. It should also come with an indicator piece for the danger level. One to three players can play cooperatively or competitively.

Overall the game itself is quite enjoyable and pretty easy to pickup. My only negatives are that it was difficult to organize the cards without knowing anything about the game, but eventually you figure out what goes where and can come up with a storage system with the dividers they provide. They also should've included a token to use for tracking danger level...cheap cop out honestly.

I spent HOURS organizing this game into sets. It takes a while to understand the grouping, but I got it. Spending time organizing and categorizing the cards really helped me learn the 600 cards and lingo. That said, it's super stingy of the makers to not have preprinted dividers and do not supply a token for the vertical damage meter. There are dividers but you have to label them yourself and in your handwriting and being new to the game, I would not know what to label them. I opted to download some free ones off a gaming website. I printed them on card stock and cut them out. It really turned out nicely and made for a fun project as I watched Casino Royal and For Your Eyes Only.The game is extremely difficult to win. My daughter and I beat the Mastermind after 4 games of The Man with the Golden Gun. I think Casino Royale is the hardest being that I always seem to blow the blackjack game against the Mastermind. The difficulty makes the game exciting and makes you strategize harder.It is an awesome game and I am already bought the expansion. Regardless of your favorite Bond, with the expansion, there is a James Bond for everyone (even George).I'm looking forward to more expansions.One star off for being cheapskates for the above-mentioned cons.Watch people setting up and playing it on Youtube. It helps clarify points in the game. The instructions are good but lack in some matters.UPDATE: My daughter and I have now won The Man with the Golden Gun, Casino Royal, and Goldfinger. We are playing Goldeneye next and look forward to beating that movie and then moving on to the expansion set. I hear that THe Spy Who Loved Me expansion is on the way too very soon! Loving this game and the replayability.
