Works great IF your dog will take to it
As I said in my headline, this item does work great IF your dog will take to it. I have 2 Chis; 1 male, 1 female. The male figured out why it is there (in our sun-room) but still prefers to go out to pee. If the weather is really really bad, or if it is very late, he will not hesitate to use it, but not if we don't keep it clean for him. I guess male dogs prefer to pee over OTHER dogs' pees to mark the territory, but he seems to avoid it if it has yesterday's relief in it already. We always try to keep it clean, but sometimes, we forget. Our female will not use it at all, but last week I bought another one of these to see if she will use a new one. If not, we wiil have a clean spare always on hand for our little boy to use.The item itself is great, but dogs have personalities and quirks that will make the difference as to whether they will use it or not. It is easy to clean, and the drain pain makes it easy to drain the liquid, but the grass mat and the frame also need to be cleaned. All in all, I do love this item for what it is. Kind of pricey, but all pet stuff is anyway.

Does the job, kind of. A few design flaws
We recently bought a 10x10 kennel outside for the dog for while we are at work. He is in it usually 5-6 hours at a time during the day. I was worried about him not being able to hold it while in the kennel and starting to go on the floor inside there. The problem I saw with that was there is a wood floor on the kennel and I have wood floors in my house so I didn't want him to start having issues or becoming unhouse-broken. I bought this thinking it would help me out by giving him a designated place to go in the kennel and still knowing its not okay to go on the floors. The first two days I had it outside in the kennel with him, he proceeded to lay on it all day. He has a large dog house plus a bed out there but seems happy to sleep on this instead. On the third day he finally started to use it to go to the bathroom on. However, he also is going on the floor about an equal amount of times. I don't think the turf is really long enough to simulate real grass. Plus I found it to be slightly pokey and hard. I think if the turf was a little longer and softer it would be more similar to real grass and then my dog would get it better that its supposed to be a grassy area for him to go to the bathroom.Another flaw for having it outside is that on windy days the turf part lifts off and moves around on the base. It would make it a little more difficult to clean but it would be nice if it came with some sort of hook or Velcro so the turf stayed in place on windy days. This probably isn't a problem for most people though because they are probably buying this for indoor use. However, if your buying for a kennel or balcony, you might have this issue also.Ultimately, it works and seems to help and will be better once I get my dog more acclimated. However two big flaws (for me) are that the turf moved around to much and if it was more real grass it might make my dog more inclined to use it better. I can fix that last issue with training, so its just really the turf moving that I don't like.

It eventually worked for me! Advice on how to get your dog to take to this
I just moved to a townhouse with a fenced patio. This product can go indoors or outdoors so I put it out there to keep my puppy from relieving himself directly on the wood. This is a very clever product! It's reusable, it's washable, and it has the removable collection tray for easy disposal of urine. My only complaint is that it doesn't sit evenly on the floor. It wobbles a little when my dog steps on it, which startled him at first. But he eventually got used to it and is now learning to use it consistently. If you're having trouble getting your dog to take to the pad, you're not alone. My 14-week-old husky didn't take to it immediately like some people's dogs did. I tried puppy aid spray, which didn't work. He wanted to eat it. I tried catching him in the act of peeing and correcting him by carrying him over to the pet zoom, but that didn't work either. I tried dragging the grass pad through a puddle of his urine, but the scent just washed off in the rain. Finally I resorted to taking a small piece of his poop and storing it in the collection drawer beneath the pad. This allowed my dog to smell his own scent on the pet zoom without me having to worry about him stepping all over it when he finally went to use it.It only took him a day to learn to use it after that. He is consistently using the pet zoom (though he needs to work on his aim a little bit), which makes clean up 100x easier for me. Try this strategy if you're having trouble getting your dog to take to the pet zoom.If your dog doesn't immediately notice the smell, you can try leaving a small piece of poop on top of it, too. This will get your dog's attention visually, and it will hopefully figure it out from there.
