Failed the hospital test... TWICE.
This VP/SPO2 device measures 5 points below two hospital oximeters that I compared it with.It is imperative that manufacturers of medical devices properly test their devices before shipping them to consumers. The VP/SPO2 is being returned and will be replaced with a device from another manufacturer.

Great little oxygen and pulse reader
After I had open-heart surgery at the hospital, a major issue in my recovery was my oxygen retention level. The hospital actually kept me an extra couple of days to make sure it got above 90 before I could be released. While I was in there, I used a wide variety of pulse oximeters, but I noticed some of the staff had little portable ones, and I wanted one for myself. So I purchased this as soon as I got home, and I am using it continuously to make sure my oxygen level is getting better, which it is.The construction is solid. It does not seem flimsy or like it would fall apart. It is very comfortable. It is a little heavy to carry on one finger, but no more so than any of the ones I used in the hospital. You have a lot of options in display selection. You can have the numbers displayed in a variety of directions to make it easy to read. You also have the option of showing the full pulse graph or just the current pulse level. There is even a set of advanced menus for more granular control. The display is clear and bright; it is very easy to read. There is also a little carrying case that fits perfectly. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and I hope this device lasts a long time because it is important in my recovery. It uses 2 AAA batteries, which are included in the package. I haven't used it enough to even put a dent in the battery level, which is displayed under the oxygen and pulse readings.

Works fine.
Works well. The pressure on the fingers feels like nothing. I mention this because I've read comments that there is pressure on the inserted finger, etc. It hardly feels like you have it on. There is a spot inside the clip where you place your finger. Certain light beam is activated and is measured on the other side. Oxygen rich blood will register a higher reading. That is how these devices work. Google it. It also gives you a pulse reading. I checked the pulse reading with my Omron BPMS monitors and they are very close so you know the Pulse reading is accurate. When I first got the device it made a beeping sound while it was active. You can turn the beeping off in the menu. Display lettering is tiny so you will have to look at the display screen close-up. Look up the manual online to get an idea of what the menu settings are.

Accurate and easy to use.
I got this about a month ago when I was on oxygen. I've used it multiple times in the day and have checked it against the oxygen sensor in the doctor's office 3 times now.The accuracy is very good. It seemed to track the readings in the doctor's office well, with this one registering 0-1 unit lower than the doctor's.I struggled a bit initially with finger placement. Then I read the manual. :) The secret is to open the clamp, stick your finger in (nail side up) all the way, and only close the clamp and power on the device once your finger was in place. I also found it useful to fiddle with the different display layouts such that both the numbers and the graph were displayed. Seeing when it is detecting a pulse helps to understand if your finger placement is right.I'm buying another one to always carry with me.

Too Inaccurate For Professional Use
This meter had seriously flawed accuracy in spite of the claims made on the box. It seems that it may have a poor LED as a light source. Depending on which finger was being monitored, the meter indicated changing levels of 89% to 94% with an aberage of 92% while my legacy meter indicated a repeatable steady 98%. It is my recommendation that this meter should not be used for making critical healthcare decisions.

It worked at first, but not at second. Try a different product.
This little unit was wonderful right out of the box. I tried it on myself and then had a friend stick his finger in to take it for a whirl but the top separated from the bottom in one fell swoop. I can’t really recommend it at this point. Too bad too because this was going to be my jam in the airplane. Guess I’ll have to try something else.

Smallest little potentially life saving beacon I have ever seen...
Very easy to read and use. Potential life saver. Don't listen to all the visiting nurses that may come to your home after a hospital stay that say "oh not all of us carry those to test oxygen levels because they are sooooo expensive!!!" Please take my advice. I have COPD (blocked airways) on a fixed low income and $30 at a shot is difficult at times, however, NOT when it comes to the difference between the cemetery and being able to get for-warned about low oxygen levels and correct it!!!! Living your life the way you want to by having the right tools is definitely better, in my opinion. The blue #'s are easier to read for me, less blurry.Finger Pulse Oximeter by Vive - Best SpO2 Device for Blood Oxygen Saturation Level Reading - Fingertip Oxygen Meter w/ Alarm & Pulse Rate Monitor - Travel Case & Lanyard Included - 2 Year Warranty
