Didn't expect a substitute product
The one star is for the seller, Farm Plastic Supply, who sent me a lesser grade substitute product. I expected to receive the weed barrier that was described, DeWitt 3.2 oz Sunbelt Ground Cover (with the 4 yellow stripes as shown in the Amazon photo) because I have used it with success in the past. Instead, they sent a thinner, easily fraying weed barrier with 2 green stripes. It wasn't worth the hassle of returning the heavy 300 ft roll, but I will NEVER again order an item where Farm Plastic Supply Co is the seller.

Junk
Spent over two hundred dollars on this stuff. Took me half the day laying it down and using the staples before I added rock. The product I received didn’t have the felt bottom. Three weeks after I installed the weed barrier the grass is already busting through this crap. So dissatisfied with this but now I’m stuck with it. Don’t buy it.

NOT a weed blocker
Maybe I misunderstood something but I thought this material would block weeds and grasses from growing through it. I laid quite a large amount of it and weeds and grasses came up through it everywhere. I ended up having to pull it all up. Unfortunately I can't return it as it is covered in dirt so the least I can do is warn people about it. I honestly don't know what this stuff is for. If it's not going to stop weeds and grasses it's totally worthless. Don't waste your time or money using it.

Very tough stuff, water does permeate this barrier!
I've watched claims of water running off the barrier and not. I tested by putting a piece of the barrier on top of a 5 gallon bucket and getting about 3" of rain. I had made an indention about that of a normal cereal bowl in the barrier prior to the rain. Rain collected and some remained suspended - probably a quarter cup - but most dropped thru it. Water won't pass through like window screening, but I'm not putting window screening down hoping to control weeds. What that means at least for me is don't use it in a mound type installation if you are interested in natural rainfall getting through directly to what is underneath. Go with either a bowl or flat - dirt perimeter. My installation is around new grape cuttings in 36" squares, burning a small hole in the middle for the cutting, bowl/flat - dirt perimeter. It keeps the ground warm via black color, it keeps spot watering system (through the hole) from evaporating and it definitely keeps anything else from coming up. Good solid stuff with a 5 year sunlight exposure guarantee works for me.

I was hopeful...but do not buy for grass growth prevention!
This product may prevent broadleaf weeds from sprouting but absolutely do not buy to prevent grass growth. The woven style allows grass to easily permeate the material. We have grass growing everywhere we used this product. We bought another product from a local Rock and landscape store, that product has no issues. Don't waste your time or money on this attempt at a landscape barrier.Oh, and one more point. Being that it is woven, if you need to cut the product it becomes terribly messy and stringy.Overall, this product was very poorly designed.

Eliminated labor intensive gardening! Super product!
After reading many reviews, we decided upon purchasing this Sunbelt ground cover for our garden. We love the healthy, fresh produce but are sick and tired of weeds! So far, this has been a God send! The ground cover was easy to work with. We purchased the recommended landscape staples and they are holding it down well! The rain does go right through the fabric. We used a method seen on a youtube video where you burn the holes in the fabric to prevent fraying. That also worked like a charm! So far, we couldn't be more happy with out purchase. The plants are growing well, some better than ever! We plant to roll it up and store it for the winter to get more life out of it.

Great weed control!
I have tried various ways to keep down weeds in my garden and this was the answer I needed. I ran it between rows of my pumpkins and it has made weeding so much easier. I was concerned that it may burn the leaves of the plants when they ran over the top but we have had temperatures in the 90's and 100's and so far has not fazed them. It is also great to kneel on and not get so dirty. I used the galvanized staples and have not had a bit of trouble with the wind blowing it out.

Heavy duty product
Although I used this as a weed barrier in my landscape beds, this product is likely best suited as a vertical silt screen to prevent erosion, as seen on many construction sites. For the price and amount you get, I was happy with my purchase. The product is a woven plastic based material and not your typical landscape "cloth like fabric."Pros:I don't see how weeds will ever make it through. Seems heavy duty enough to last many many years.Cons:It has a tendency to unravel where it gets cut, but I just folded my cuts under and used landscape U shaped stakes. Doesn't seem to be an issue.I also don't believe the product is very permeable. This doesn't matter unless you have landscape plants that need water. I just left some exposed dirt around the base of my plants as a precaution. Crossing my fingers.Overall, I'm a happy customer.
