Beats the big black boots by a mile
My orthopedist recommended this boot for my broken ankle when I said that the big black boot I got at the emergency room was very uncomfortable. Nothing will make your ankle stop hurting but this boot will certainly make your weeks of wearing it easier to take. It's lighter weight. It has only three straps and the front section comes off completely so you can place it on your leg where it's most comfortable. I put some little marks on the front and back pieces to align them at the best fit for my leg. There are four inflatable cushions for a custom fit.But nothing is perfect so here are the reasons I did not give this 5 stars. I wear a size 7 medium width shoe with an average calf size and the SMALL size boot is a close fit. One reviewer mentioned they had a large calf and needed to go up a size. I did not inflate any of the cushions which might have made it even more comfortable. I wish the product description had been more specific for fit recommendations. The inflatable areas have somewhat hard edges which are crimped don't lie smoothly inside the boot. They can poke a bit along the back side of the leg. Every boot I have seen has this problem. I use some thick foam padding in those spots to alleviate this. There are three flaps which fold over the toe area and can get warm so take the front flap and fold it down under your foot and let your toes peek out a bit to breathe. The description mentions including two socks - forget those. They are not socks. They are two lengths of cheap tubular knit fabric with one end sewn shut. I have been wearing this sockless since the fit is so snug that a sock might make it too tight. Even with what I have just mentioned, I wore this boot for five hours last night without taking it off to ice or just get some "free" time and had no problems. If you are looking for more comfort with plenty of support, get this boot.

Aircast Boot
Awesome! Best boot on the market for foot and ankle fractures. The multiple air bladders and pump makes it better than the rest.

If you have large calves, order up
The size description of not accurate. Anyone who has moderately large calves needs to size up. They should include calf circumference as part of the measurement. I bought this BC it's supposed to be lighter and easier to wear. It's lighter but I wear a 6.5wide women's shoe and ordered a small. This pic is without even inflating the brace

Same boot at a fraction of the price from urgent care or ER!
My son injured his ankle badly at school. The swelling was very, very bad. Enough that had it been broken, they would've had to wait for the swelling to subside to cast it. After an x-ray confirmed nothing was broken but there might be a slight stress fracture in the growth plate, we were told a walking boot was the best option and having been ripped off by the medical supply company that provides these types of items to urgent care (I was charged almost $500 for the same version in a different size for myself), I knew to buy one from Amazon. This particular boot came with two long socks to use with it. We found that these socks didn't stay up well so we just used his soccer socks instead. The only complaint I'd have is that two of the inflation "ports" came off the first day he wore this. We removed the other ports from the boot and just use one on each of the 4 inflation points so that we're not left with no way to adjust the pressure in the air pockets as the swelling continues to subside.Four weeks post injury, this boot is still going strong.

Worth Every Cent
I ordered this boot to replace my previous orthopedic issued one that was so loud and crunchy you could hear it across the house. I couldn't walk anywhere without waking people up as it sounded like I was constantly crinkling a bag of potato chips. This boot gave me comfort and the peace an quiet I was desiring.I was in a boot for 8 weeks before ordering this one and I wish I would have order sooner. Unlike my previous one, I have no problem with being uneven in this boot as long as I have a tennis shoe on my other foot. I needed an evenup before, but not with this boot. With 4 air cells I am able to customize the boot for better fit and comfort. I added a piece of velcro to the top strap as it kept sliding downAfter 2.5 months, the front panel aircell stoped holding air.i contacted the manufacturer and they promptly replaced it for me under warranty. 5 stars for customer service.I normally wear a women's 7.5 and I got a small. It says a small goes up to an 8.5, but I can't imagine an 8.5 fitting as my toes are pretty close to the edge and I'm only a 7.5.

Fits as expected
Sprained my ankle during a move and suffered for days as we drove across country. Read reviews and ordered this Aircast. I wear a size 12. 5 and the large fit like a glove. I added just a bit of air for additional support, but really not needed. Please note, I have average width feet and smallish calves. Spinal cord injured and always in danger of pressure sores on my left foot, this cast supports me without any sort of squeezing of the skin. Have used it for a week and foot looks great. With the boot on I can stand and take a few steps gingerly which helps in transfers and getting in and out of cars safely.

UbuEt Boot
I put off ordering this for way too long..8 weeks ago I fractured my ankle, you know the sort of x-ray where you doctor gets excited and tells you "Come look at this!".From that first week I was looking at alternatives to the back-slab, and then plaster. I found this boot straight away and asked my surgeon, he said NO, because it would encourage you to try and walk on it. I said yep fair enough <input aussie accent>. Five weeks after the break they gave me a moon boot, all black. It was about as close to Aircast as Neptune is to Earth, uncomfortable, hot and next to useless. So I finaly bit the bullet and ordered the Aircast XP.I am walking, been on crutches for 8 weeks. First day with the Aircast on and I can actually support my weight on it (very short walks at this stage).New Name IdeasUnbelievable bootUbuet bootMy only grip and really it is minor. The size of the pump, however a compromise had to be had between functionality and portability so in reality it is the perfect size.
