one of the best out of the entire series of Trojan Box Sets
It's really a shame that this LP that this record shares the same cover as Trojan: Rocksteady , which was an outstanding collection and to me, one of the best out of the entire series of Trojan Box Sets; and there were a ton of them. I have no idea why that collection wasn't used as a guideline for this one, I have no idea. That collection gave you 50 songs...this one only 12. Of the 12, 2 definitely shouldn't be on there because they don't fit the genre (007-Shantytown and Return of Django) 3 others I'm scratching my head how they made the cut given the huge catalog of seminal rocksteady tunes (I Am The Upsetter, Train to Skaville and Stop That Train). These are all great songs. Should they have made a 12 song compilation of rocksteady reggae? No.It's not available on vinyl but this compilation: This Is Crucial Reggae: Rock Steady is actually a much better selection of songs. And there's 12 of them. I would have much rather had these on wax!Trojan, you missed the mark here. I only gave this three stars because I absolutely love most of the B side (The Tide is High, The Loser, Perfidia and Hard to Confess). Hopefully, Volume II will be better!
