A Little Princess (Classic Starts Series)

This was the perfect version to read my 6 Yr old. She loved every aspect of it, the illustrations were just frequent enough to keep her engaged, and all the key aspects of the story are narrated seamlessly and with enough detail to make it interesting for both my daughter and I.

My 9yo daughter devoured this book. The first one she couldn't put down. Yay! And, Prime Video has the movie to rent after your kiddos finishes the book. Plus, the movie has a happier ending than the book. Recommend this book!

I read reviews before ordering the "Classic Starts" version of the tale, A Little Princess. I myself was attracted to the other classic this author wrote, The Secret Garden, and I ordered the unabridged edition of it, for a bedtime story, read by an adult. My choice of the Classic Starts was perfect for my granddaughter who is 7, to read to herself. She is visiting, and when she went to bed, she lay absorbed. She did not want to put the book down. She stumbled over one word, "Ingia" and it was a point of discussion for us. The book is an enormous success for her. I LOVE seeing her so captivated by a book.

So glad we got this! This was the perfect version to read to my six year old!! She’s been very interested every night and wants me to keep reading more.

One of my favorite books. This version is heavily edited compared to the original but to real it out loud to a 6 year old, that was ok.

Great story. My 7 years old son read it and enjoyed it a lot. It has 10 questions at the end, which turned out very useful for discussion and writing practise (especially that we are home schooling). We were able to discuss the value of friendship, reading books, creativity, the importance of making the most of the circumstance we are in, diligence, attitude, hope etc etc

I like it, but I ordered the wrong one. I'm going to reorder the original. I wish the 1995 movie was longer.

Retold version is not so good

Bought for my niece. She said it was an okay story. I found the illustrations to be below average.
