Irish Setter Men's Ely 83400 6" Aluminum Toe Work Boot

These were great right out of the box! I wore them for a few hours one day to break in, but that was all the time I had before I had to wear them for work--12 hours straight. They worked great and were VERY comfortable. I had to walk through broken glass, nails, deteriorating buildings, etc. and always felt confident that I was protected. FYI - I am a woman and ordered a pair from the smaller end of the size spectrum. They were not too heavy, but gave me the feeling that they were very sturdy. I highly recommend and would buy for a loved one.

I have a wide foot. Nay. I have a fat foot. Very fat. I sent back a pair of "other guys" wide boots. When I got these I was afraid they wouldn't fit because for the first week, they felt a little snug, but after they broke in, they are wonderful. I work in water maintenance so I'm constantly in puddles and at LEAST ankle deep at times in water and mud. Great ankle support too!!! The material is soft and rinsed off so easily. Boots look great still after three months of use so far. I'd recommend them and will get another pair in the future.

On my 3rd pair and a coworker on his 2nd pair. Very light, comfortable and flexible out the box with very little break in.

I think I ordered too large of a boot, as I have had to do my entire life of being fat footed. And becuase they are too large, they hurt my toes. But other than than a great boot.

My husband uses these for work and he's on his feet for sometimes 12 hrs a day. This is his 3rd pair and he loves them. There is no break in period, they are comfortable right out of the box. They wear well. Under high stress conditions in the elements and chemicals and climbing they have a life of approx 10 months or so before you begin to see signs of breakdown. Under normal wear and tear I would think they last well over a year.

I would only buy these if you absolutely want water proof boots because your sacrificing flexibility. I wear and wore red wing irish setters all the time and never had a complaint. This is the first time trying water proof ones and not liking them. They feel hard as if their made out of plastic. I wore them to go out and use snow blower in driveway and they were hard and very very slippery. I guess the cold temps didnt help. When I walked in the cold driveway it sounded like I was wearing hi heels or dress shoes. Not a good work boot feel and certainly not flexible.

I have a pair of Irish Setter Elk Hunter Boots I use for cold weather hunting and they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. So I thought I'd buy a pair of Irish Setters for work. So far these boots are performing just like my hunting boots. Very comfortable and have a lot of support. I can be on my feet all day and not feel any discomfort. I highly recommend them.
