The picture that I ordered was not the new improved model and I am not a happy customer.
I have been using Aqua Tech 10-20 gallon filters for my 10 gal aquariums for YEARS and I loved them! They would last for 3-5 years and I was really pleased. Yes, it was a little more trouble to clean it but it was a much better filter than the new model PLUS even though I read all the instructions there is no mention of how to adjust the water flow. The water flow on this new one is so strong that my poor little neon tetras are having to swim for their lives just to stay in one place! Plus this new filter doesn't even pick up the long strands of pleco poop which was always picked up by my older model Aqua Tech! With this new model, I have to hand vacuum to clean up after my pleco! I can deal with the vacuuming but I've already lost one of my neon tetras probably due to exhaustion! Any suggestions on how to slow down the flow of water? I'm also concerned about the fairly large amount of bubbles caused by the hard water flow, that are projected almost half the depth of the aquarium, I am afraid that is going to be an oxygen over load on their lungs. I am not an avid aquarium hobbyist but I do enjoy my one 10 gal aquarium and hate to see my fish in distress. Thanks for any suggestions to remedy this problem.

I just purchased this to replace the same filter I've had for 3-4 years. The only reason I replaced it was because it was getting dirty on the outside and I didn't want to hassle with the cleaning. This filter is more quiet than the name brand ones you can buy at Petco and Petsmart. Plus the filters can easily be reused and even the filter refills are inexpensive! I will always buy this brand filter for any future tanks I have.

Don't love or hate it
I'm very indifferent about this filter, the cartridges seem to get clogged all the time. It may be too strong because it seems to be taking in a lot of food. I know for a fact I'm not over feeding my fish by the way. As I watch this filter work it really seems to suck the food right towards it. I'll have to figure out what to do at this point because I'm stumped.

Powerful
This filter is awesome !!!! It has some serious power to it . I use it in a 20 gallon tank and you can visually see the cycle as the water circulates especially when its feeding time , i almost feel it makes it a game for the fish because there food ( i use flakes for the tetras) moves threw out the tank making them have to swim after it and eat within about 2-5 mins ..... overall its a great product ive been using it for about 4 months now I'll update after a year

Great filter!
This filter has made a huge difference in our aquarium in just a few days.. I bought a 10 gal aquarium which came with filter but it didn't seem to be working well. I bought the 10-20 gal aqua-tech and am very pleased so far! Much more efficient and much quieter. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

too noisy
Not really a fan of this filter. I cant stand hearing a waterfall or any noise from my filters. I kept it as a back up, but just not a fan.

Works well
Works well. Tried in a 10 gallon tank. Too strong a pull for a Betta. Great for other fish. This is the best filter I've owned

This filter works great. I ordered it over sized for my aquarium, but it still works great. Only reason I am not giving it five stars is the fact that it is a little loud; both the motor and the water return to the tank. I believe some of this is due to it being over sized for the tank. Anyway, it works great!!!!
