Powerful Receiver. Would have liked at least 9.2 for Atmos.
This model is HDCP2.2 capable; and provided an option to completely bypass overlay processing, thus ensuring HDMI throughput did not add any post-processing time. This is important for Gaming, since the display input lag was not increased, unlike competing models such as Onkyo (whose input lag when measured with the LeoBodnar input lag tester was +37ms, while this Denon added +0 ms). Paired with a Samsung UN65JS750D in Game Mode, a total system display lag of 17ms is observed, which translated to a single frame lag.Sound: watching movies with the Denon is great. With its support for speakers down to 4 ohms, it is able to properly drive my Magneplanar speakers far better than my prevoius Onkyo could.Video: I disabled the upscaler in the receiver to eliminate input lag when gaming. I also rely on the built-in 4K upscaler in the TV, so I cannot say.

helpful tips
I have had this receiver for about a month now, I'm only writting this because some people say they have to turn the volume up around 60 for a good listening experience I had this problem too. Go to the option button on remote and turn up the channel level adjustment . Also go to the input on the setup button and increase the source level . Also go to the audio dialog level adjust it as well . You have one more adjustment don't forget to adjust the trebile and bass . The receiver comes alive after that. Makes my Polk speakers sound awesome on both movies and music . Very satisfied with purchase

2nd Denon Purchase
I replaced my Denon AVR-S700W because the display stopped working. I was happy with the 700 model so replaced it with this one. Easy setup with an improved on screen menu - not sure what the reviewer was talking about that said it is blurry in 1080p, looks great to me.It sounds great and the picture that is being run through as a pass thru to my Samsung 65 inch tv looks great.Happy with the purchase.

Too much trouble!
I bought this receiver almost 2 years ago and right away I loved how it worked along with the features. Easy setup and great sound too. The only input I was using was the CAB/SAT input. After just a few months I turned it on one day and no picture appeared. After troubleshooting with Denon tech support I found it would work with the other inputs and the CAB/SAT input was dead. I sent the unit to Denon for warranty repair. It was very expensive to ship. They sent it back quickly and it worked fine. After awhile, the same thing happened again and the unit would just shut down after a few minutes. I called Denon again and they had me ship it for warranty repair again. Again expensive to ship. Again got the unit back quickly and working fine. As of today it, the same input has failed and I am using the DVD input. The warranty will be up soon but I don't think I am going to pay to ship it back to them just to have the same thing happen again. I may try another brand.

Has a lot of good features and sounds quite good at the price level
Has a lot of good features and sounds quite good at the price level. Multiple HDMI inputs so you can connect your Play Station and Blueray players. Wish it had a RIAA input for phono. Microphone supplied for a fairly easy speaker setup. If you are not looking for this unit to be your primary sound system this unit fits the bill.Nov 22, 2016 Update. As many have noted the software and functionality is a problem. Although I downloaded the latest firmware update it still does not function properly. You can't turn it off and the functions do not keep their settings. The only way to power it down is to unplug it. Don't buy this unit.

Unresolved Technical Issue between Denon and Pandora
I bought this on Prime Day for the single reason to be able to use the direct streaming Pandora feature. Imagine my surprise when you cannot register the unit on Pandora. I looked online and found there is an unresolved issue between Denon and Pandora causing this lock up and inability to register the Denon with Pandora. The issue has been open since mid-June and reading online has happened before too. I am not going to take the risk to find they cannot resolve this issue and be stuck with a new receiver that is wonderful, but does not do the very thing I bought it for, mines going back. Shame on you Denon, I guess that is why so many say that Denon's support is terrible. Other than this, I liked the unit, it had some great features. Denon suggest streaming Pandora from your phone via Airplay, i've been doing that on my ten year old receiver, I bought this one to get away from that. Already ordered an equivalent Yamaha. See Denon link on this issue: [...]

I find that the sound fades in and out which ...
Update: 7/31/2018 - After several other issues previously noted, today the whole unit shut off and just flashes a little red light. Unfortunately this product is barely two years old. My mom has a Denon receiver from 1995 that still works great to this day and has always been amazing. I am completely let down by this product especially given the price I paid when it was brand new.I wouldn't recommend purchasing...

Worst Receiver EVER!
This unit is a piece of junk. I bought it in 2016 and contacted customer support 5 times and had to do 3 factory resets. When I turn on my tv, I need to shut everything off and back on several times for the piece of junk to recognize it's time to play tv soind (even when tv is selected on unit). Last night the bluetooth stopped connecting. No where was there an option to reset. Instead of doing another factory reset, I ripped the unit off the shelf and decided to start over. Don't bother with this junk!
