iDesign Steel 4-Shelf Extendable Tension Shower Caddy, The York Collection - 8" x 11" x 108", Silver, Adjustable from 5'-9'

I ordered this shower caddy this morning around 11 a.m. and chose same day delivery - it was delivered by 6 p.m. - I love this shipping option. The rack is great - very easy to assemble and install in the shower. I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about - this was much simpler to assemble than the older style caddy I had. You measure the height you need and then assemble the poles to a length less than the measurement. The top pole has the extension rod in it - all you have to do is twist the top counter clockwise to release the 15" extension on top, then push the extension back down until the entire length is 1" taller than your measurement. Can't get much simpler.I have this caddy sitting on a built in shelf in my shower, so I only needed 6 ft 4.5 inches of length from the shelf to the shower ceiling. I used the bottom pole, top pole and one long middle pole (24 inches each) which gave me 6 ft. Then I unscrewed the extension rod at the top of the top pole (counter clockwise) - and the extension was released and came up 15 more inches. I then just pushed the extension back into the top pole until I had my 4.5 inches remaining. I then screwed the extension rod a couple of turns clockwise to lock it into place and I was ready to install the baskets.The baskets are very simple, just push the plastic insert into the ring on the back of each basket (the plastic inserts from the bottom side of the ring and it only fits one way (this isn't rocket science - at least I don't think it is, but then I'm not a rocket scientist). Pull the poles apart, slide the basket onto each pole and then screw in the little insert screw using the Allen wrench (all supplied in plastic bag) to hold the shelf in place. Put the poles back together, install the caddy in the shower and if needed adjust the basket heights (simply loosen the screw from the back of the shelf ring, reposition the shelf and retighten the screw). Couldn't be easier.In response to the review about the pole being easy to dent so they threw the whole thing away - don't see how that could have happened unless they whacked the pole on the bathroom counter a couple of times. Anyway, I highly recommend this shelf caddy.

The instructions are written for someone who already understands how to assemble it. At first I thought the poles were missing the tension rod, so was about to return it. But it's there, inside the top piece--they just don't explain that you have to pull the tension rod part out of the top piece, and THEN tighten it once you measure it against your ceiling. Also putting together the shelves took some coordination--they don't tell you to put in the black protective sleeves first and THEN tighten the hex screws into the sleeves--and you have to be careful to get the angles to match for the corner. Then the hex screws kept falling off before I could tighten them enough to stay on--it takes patience and multiple efforts. But after all that was done, it's an attractive, sturdy, useful piece that I would buy again. I'm not particularly handy around the house, and I managed to do this!

Overall, I like this caddy.....but....It was difficult for me to install properly. Once installed, the middle section didn't seem all that sturdy. I was afraid that any amount of forward shifting weight would cause the whole thing to fall. I did purchase zip ties and suction cups to add to the middle portion. It now seems much more secure.

This product is excellent & I love having it in my shower.I bought it shortly after breaking the spring on a cheaper ($20) version purchased at a local department store while trying to place it in the shower.I would recommend this particular caddy over other less expensive ones found on Amazon because I feel this caddy is the appropriate level of quality to truly be happy with it. I believe those less expensive versions you can find are flimsy & don't hold up nearly as well or look as good - not at all worth what you're sacrificing for the price. On the other hand, more expensive caddies seem to be over doing it in my opinion. This caddy does what it promises and delivers the quality one can expect without breaking the bank.I placed all of the shelves with a foot of space in between each (from the top of one shelf to the bottom of the next) & it gives me ample room while not having to reach too high for the highest shelf. Installing them as described in the instructions makes for extremely sturdy shelving.To give an example of how much the shelves can hold: I've been using it for about a month with roughly 30 fl. oz. of liquid per shelf & it's holding up solidly and I don't think I'm even pushing the limit. (The lowest shelf is even supporting my girlfriend's two giant sized shampoo & conditioner bottles, pushing roughly 100 fl. oz.)

The tube is so thin that when you attach the shelves you end up crushing the tube. That is fine except for the top section with the spring loaded adjuster. When you put any shelves in the area of the top section, the tube crushes and then the spring adjuster binds up and fails to adjust. Then it won’t stay in place because there is no tension on it. All they have to do to fix it is to put the screws that hold the shelves on in the front, then you could get the spring tension right and installed then position the shelves and tighten them down. Then it wouldn’t matter if the tube crushed. This is the third one I have ordered and I forgot how much of a pain in the ass it was to get installed. One lasted 5+ years before a shelf broke. That is why I had to get another one. The other one is still going strong.

Put this shower caddy together in about 10-15 minutes, assembly was a lot easier then I initially thought and with adjustable top rod no cutting is required. If fits really nicely over our bathtub, looks great and feels very sturdy. Can’t comment on longevity yet but it looks like a good quality made item. Instructions say to allow 1 extra inch on the pole but it felt kinda lose and was moving around easily so I’ve added 2” of extra length between ceiling and bathtub and it sits really snug now. All in all very happy with the purchase and hope it’ll last a few years.

This has been holding up fine for over 8 months. We fill it with way too many products and it still feels solid. No discolouration so far.
