The Aqualung website says you don’t need a bootie for these. Has anyone used these barefoot?

I've never worn them that way, but I'm sure you could use them barefoot. I have the model with the spring-steel straps (they also are/were available with all-rubber straps); it would probably feel a little weird without booties but would be OK--you would just need to buy a pair with a foot-pocket size taking barefoot wear into consideration (smaller than if you were wearing booties).

Would a small fit a women size 6?

these fins only come in 3 sizes so the small would be rated from 5-7the regular would be 8-10the large/xlarge would be 10-12

I'm looking to see if they'll fit in my bag what is the overall length of the extra large?

My fins are SMALL size and they are 24" long. They JUST fit into a Stahlsac BVI mesh bag. I would bet the XL fins are longer.
