You're right. Yitzhak Zaksenberg invented this juicer before the establishment of the modern state of Israel, at his factory in Tel Aviv. At that time the area was under British control, but its name, dating back to the Bible, is Israel.

I’ve had mine since 1995. The paint has been peeling It’s time to replace or can the enamel be refinished with new coat?

Mine is just over a year and unfortunately, paint is already peeling off. It’s a great juicer but paint is not the quality what you get in such an expensive equipment. It should have been powder coated and baked like kitchen ranges.

Is the top piece which comes in contact with the citrus skin, removable? I didnt see a screw. Whats best way to clean?

You can remove the top part, but it's tricky to bring it back properly. There's a certain patent there. Cleaning is done with a damp cloth without removing the part.
