RaceFace Respond Mountain Bike Stem

Happy with this stem. Bike is REI CTY hybrid, bought XL (one size too large), stem is 100mm. After a few weeks of riding lot of back pain. Got this 45mm stem with free one day shipping. Sturdy, nice finish, easy to install. Looks good on the bike (very slightly bulky for a hybrid bike but does look solid and actually good looking). It made a huge difference in riding - no longer feeling the strain on the back. Additional comment on the weight - initially hesitated a lot before ordering due to its posted 195g weight. Then figured out a way to actually feel how heavy a 195g stem really means - I took an existing stem I have (132g), put it on a scale, pick an right weight Allen wrench (from a set) that when added onto the scale the total weight of wrench and stem is close to 195g. Holding both in hand I realized i am ok with that kind of weight. After that I put the order without any doubt and the piece arrived exactly as expected, and it works great! Hope this helps people who are not sure about this stem.

I've had my MTB for years and have always felt that I needed to make some adjustments. My frame is the proper size but my arms are extended to where they have almost no bend at the elbow. Bike came with a longer stem. I finally got this stem installed and the difference is noticeable right away. There is less weight on my palms and wrists and I now have more bend at the elbow. I don't know why I waited so long.Solid stem, easy to install and it looks great!

I love this stem!I got it because my 2016 Cannondale Trail 5 had a super long (About 110mm and 6°) C4 stem. It forced me to lean farther forward than was comfortable, and seemed to somehow make turning the front wheel slower, or less sensitive. After only about 30 minutes, my neck and back would be hurting - and that's never fun.I installed the Respond in just a few minutes, and it included set of color instructions just in case. The hex bolts were pre-greased. I immediately took it on a good 12 mile single-track run, and it was perfect! The steering is more responsive, and the handlebars are much, much closer to me. No neck or back pain at all! Plus it looks good!

Ordered our new mountain tandem with a 90mm stem like the road tandems. Needed a shorter stem to accommodate the longer top tube and wider handlebars. I've been pleased with RaceFace products before, and this is another good looking, well made product for the price. The torque specs imprinted on the stem are very high, and not what I would ever want to use, especially on carbon components. Best to stick with 5nm max for both the steerer and handlebars, and add some ParkTool SuperGrip assembly compound if needed.

This was a great add on to my bike for improving confidence. The quality of the stem is pretty good and I haven't had any issues yet. The only reason it got four stars instead of five is because the bolts have rusted in less than 4 months. I haven't even adjusted them very much to have worn off paint etc. Otherwise it's been a great purchase!

Better riding position... feels more natural than factory stem. Well made very tuff stem! My previous stem that came with my Scott Scale 720 plus mountain bike was to long(80mm) and 6 degrees angle. It mad me feel to stretched out and that made my neck sore from holding it up. This new stem is only 45mm long and 10 degrees angle which brings me more upright for a more comfortable riding position. I paired this stem with the Race Face Atlas 1.25 inch rise handle bars and for m 6’2’ frame this combo was perfect for me! Now I can ride very techy stuff for a longer time without neck fatigue! And more control over my turns and better response.

I was extremely impressed with this piece. Its tolerances are set up such that both the handlebar clamp and the steerer clamp torque right down so there is perfect contact between the parts - there is no danger of overtorqueing and say damaging the ears on the steerer clamp because a) there are no ears in the first place and b) both sides are touching when the proper torque is applied to the M6 bolts. Likewise, the bar clamping is not going to be able to crush a carbon fiber bar because, again, when proper torque is achieved both parts of the sandwich are touching one another (so if you overtighten, all you'll do is eventually ruin the threads on the stem).I also liked that it uses M6's on both the bars and the steering tube as the fewer wrenches I need to fumble with, the better.

This stem is solid & well made. I've read a few reviews talking about it's heavier than most of the stems. Now, I'm just out there for exercise and to have fun in the woods and I can't tell a difference. In fact my average lap times at my local trails have improved; 1.5 - 2 minutes over 3 miles. That may be that the shorter stem, went from 110 mm to 60 mm, gives you better handling and control. So if you're like me and want quality parts at a great price this is your part.

Stem di altezza pari a 40mm, aderisce perfettamente allo stelo dell'ammortizzatore. Grafiche moderne ma piacevoli, solido e ben rifinito. Ho cambiato lo stem per avere più controllo nelle discese tecniche da enduro/trail XC.Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo! Sarà abbinato ad un Truvativ T30 Stylo 30mm rise.Prodotto consigliatissimo.

Race Face siempre ha sido una marca referencia en componentes, no cabe duda que esta compañía canadiense sabe como fabricar productos de calidad enfocados al ciclismo de montaña y sobre todo a las disciplinas Gravity.En este caso la potencia presenta bueno acabados y diseño compacto a un precio razonable, la versión de 45mm adquirida sin duda proporciona un mejor manejo de la bicicleta al tener mas cerca el manubrio, su estructura proporciona la rigidez necesaria.
