Can these be mounted on the ceiling for use without the curtain rod falling out?

I did not use these holders on the ceiling but attached to wall only. However, the screw underneath the arch, when tightened, will prevent the rods from falling out.

How thick is the material? I need to buy replacement brackets for the one's I currently have. My current brackets seem to bend too easily.

The brackets are 1/8" thick and VERY strong and sturdy. I have no problems with these supporting the thick 1" steel pipes I use as curtain rods. Just make sure the brackets are properly anchored or screwed into studs or headers.

It looks silver. Why does it say the outside is sprayed black???

The ones I received are completely silver.
