Good, but not the original. . .
I first saw this book from a friend, in 1979, I was 14 yrs old. I knew then that I would NEVER see a book of this kind again! I committed as much as I could to memory! The tricks that I learned from that old, old manual served me well; as a Soldier during Desert Storm, we (my platoon) were always ahead of the rest/ fewest casualties.During OIF (contracted civilian) our 'crew' had the best record for lowest IED hits, thanks to the memories of the old book, not to mention a LOT of ex-military members in the mix.I can say that the ORIGINAL publication was FAR better, this Volume One, has been co-opted by the 'Big Guys.' They are disseminating old, useless pablum. Granted, it IS useful info, but outdated. If a person was interested.. . .Where are the old recipes to make LSD from Morning Glory seeds, the 'Nut Busters", bad nicotine,, 'Mace" before Capsaicin oil was a fad? etc, etc. . .This, although good, is NOT the original publication!I KNEW after 9-11 EVERYTHING changed, I suppose this is one of them. . . .

Very dated.
Bought it as a gift but flicking thru it I realized how out of date the content and format is now and decided to keep it rather than insult the recipient. Was probably great in its day but times move on.

Great book
Great book. Very hands on material. I bought this for my husband and he loved it. He is a prepper so this fit in with his interest. You can't just buy one volume. you really need all the volumes. They are full of information. I would recommend buying it for someone into prepping.

Unwrapped
This book is a keeper. It's kind of sad it isn't a pocket or travel sized yellow cover copy, but heck, Clinton wanted it banned all the way anyhow so beggers can't be choosers. Ha ha. Proud to add it to my engineering/survival library. Get one before the govt. makes them gone for good!

Poor Man's James Bond
I'm still reading it ,theres a lot of information in this book. Deffinately a good read, although I won't need the information it is interresting. If I were to use the info. though the safety notes are worth the pirce of the book. After reading just the first quarter of this book I can easily say I don't ever want to build a boom, far to many risks. I like my hands to much!

Guilty pleasure for dudes
Neat to read, but you'll never do any of this. Newsflash, you are not James Bond. Even so, most guys like to browse this kind of thing.

Interesting read, but many instructions in small cheaply reprinted presentation
Hey i am 60 yrs old, bought this for entertainment and reference if the stuff hits the fan. There are too many articles that i can hardly read with my glass that are not that strong, so bad print job, you need to spend more time and get a typist to redo all this info, it looks like cut and paste. Now there are a lot of good advice and safety tips offered , but this is just a basic starting point not a reference manual . Like a Militia's comic book, large but still needs a lot of work , i enjoyed it but the quality needs to be ramped up. Also the Section on hand to hand combat could be left out , and more info and instructions on previous chapters. I found the historical info fascinating .

Interesting....
Back when I was a teenager in the 80's this was a book that was often heard about but very rarely owned - almost urban legend. I had often seen PDF version's for sale online but owning an electronic version never really appealled.I was quite surprised when I saw this title on Amazon for sale as I was convinced it was still either banned or withdrawn. So curiousity got the better of me and i ordered it.There is a lot of information and detail in the book - a lot of which Kurt Saxon obviously copied and used from a variety of sources and as a result the content reads like a 'scrapbook' with some badly photocopied pictures and a variety of fonts and layouts. The information of making bombs, poisons and explosives is very detailed and in the wrong hands could be very dangerous. Though realistically you would need to be experienced in chemistry to do any of the 'experiments' safely and without the risk of maiming or killing yourself in the process! With the current terrorist threat in the western world I was surprised to see this book available, but I guess that if you are a bad person with evil intentions then you will get hold of information one way of another. And a lot of the information in the book was written in the 50's and 60's.I would recommend this book for those, like me, have a nostalgic curiousity. I suppose I was a little let down by the content, but it was nontheless interesting.I will keep it ready for when the communist hoardes invade or the living dead rise up against us all. At least I'll know how to make a home made grenade !Also - I was slightly nervous of buying it in case MI5 start snooping on me for suspected terrorist activites! (I'd like to point out that I am not one).Enjoy reading - if you dare....
