Not much to it but works and it's easy once you locate your owner's manual
Just bought this and successfully repaired my T17278 (Monitor 17 Series - post 2015 and yes they changed it after this) Delta Shower which had been dripping slowly from the showerhead when shut off after 5 years of use. Delta doesn't have installation instructions (and Amazon ships this in an envelope with no instructions or even a package) so much anymore for this however if you see the owner's manual for your shower, you can refer to the "Cartridge Installation" instructions which is spot-on for what needs to be done. Also helpful is the parts explosion diagram that shows how it all comes off and goes together for your model as well as some silicone lubricant for the O-rings (also put some on the O-ring on the cartridge itself since you are taking it out but not replacing it, it helps!). I kept my old cartridge adapter since it looked in good shape and honestly, I think if I had lubed up the O-rings, it might have worked on its own however I did install the new one and all is fixed. The biggest problem with this is that NO ONE stocks this part locally...they stock the $70+ cartridge but not this adapter kit that Delta claims you should try first. If your cartridge isn't locked up (it should rattle when you shake it gently) and the ring looks good on it, I would recommend this kit provided it's applicable for your model and definitely use the silicone lubricant as it will help your shower handle turn much smoother as well and preserve those O-rings better.

Screw loose
When I read the reviews for this item, I was concerned that I would receive a unit without a pre-drilled hole. One reviewer mentioned that this had happened to him and that he had to drill his own hole into the unit. Lo and behold the part I received from Amazon was not pre-drilled by the manufacturer. I almost returned the part immediately with the demand that I receive a part that I would not have to modify before installation. I decided that the water I was wasting due to the constant drip from my shower head was the more important issue and that taking a principled stand was not as important as my impending water bill. When I took everything apart I found that the original part did indeed have a pre-drilled hole, but did not have a screw holding it in. My guess is that the manufacturer realized (after the fact) that the screw was entirely unnecessary, since the cartridge would easily hold everything in place. I completed the installation and the only problem was that I didn't pay as much attention to the orientation of the water temperature adjustment parts as I should have, making a frustrating trail and error assembly necessary. The bottom line is I now have a shower that does not leak. Even though the part works (up to now) perfectly I deducted a star from my rating to protest the fact that a tiny note was not included with the part to explain why it might look different from the originally installed unit. The note would only have to include a URL to a website with a comprehensive explanation. C'mon guys it's not that hard.

Stopped the bath faucet from constant dripping
Ease of install is directly related to the experience of the person doing the work. Now that I've done it, its not bad at all, but you do have to take the faucet apart to replace it. I bought 2, since both my tubs have the same faucet, and the other one will eventually need replacing. I couldnt find JUST this part at the box stores, they only had a more comprehensive kit that you could buy, This was all I needed.

When I read the other postings that suggested ordering more ...
When I read the other postings that suggested ordering more replacement parts I ordered two of the replacement parts for the 17 Series valve around 02/18/2015. After dismantling the valve that was leaking I discovered the (RP46463) cartridge was damaged by the very screw that everyone thinks they need to drill a hole in the (RP46073) to reinstall. (DON'T DO IT!)Clearly Delta Engineers have recognized this defect and have addressed it with the replacement parts. In my case the original that I bought in mid-2011, after 3+ years, the screw had gouged the cartridge surface and at the same time actually wore off the top of the Philips screw head. The gouges created the leak.I called Delta on 6/22/15, and after a quick conversation they sent a new replacement cartridge kit (free of charge) that I received today 6/27/15.BTW… I don’t have hard water.

This stopped the dripping shower head.
I was happy that I only needed to replace this part and not the whole cartridge. It was relatively simple to do, but getting the bonnet nut off was difficult, but it did the trick! Also, please bear in mind that this part did not come with a pre-drilled hole which is imperative in replacement. Have a drill handy.

Try this first before ordering RP46463 cartridge.
This looks just like the original. This is likely the repair for most leaky faucets but I ordered the cartridge before I figured that out. Save some cash and try this first. Most DIYers are like me and are reluctant to mess with this too much since you likely have to turn off the main water supply to replace any of these parts. The stainless plate on the end of the cartridge seals against these gaskets to open and close the water as the cartridge turns. You may need to clean the plate (be gentle since it has to be perfectly smooth) to make it quit dripping.

Is this what you will need???
For sure product is a good price and it came as described. Purchased to fix a leak that's still leaking, ended up ordering the entire cartridge.
