Stand is good. Bowl is meh
I really bought this for the stand, and it does a good job holding my Viking Emperor and a brush. The finish seems to be in good shape after a few months, and both items are stable when held and easy to remove. Not much more to ask for.I tried the bowl for about two days before giving up on it. It’s just too small and slick with no ridges to lather up my Proraso. I put it aside and use it for other random needs. For a shave bowl, I found my old matcha bowl is perfect and fits fine in the stand under the brush. Just buy yourself a matcha bowl if you need a goodshaving bowl.

Not bad for the price
This is nice looking but I wish the spot for the brush was adjustable...the brushes we have just fall through.

Non-magnetic bowl falls off noisily and easily.
Only the first of the three models that specifically says "magnetic base" is such, and it is very nice.I also got the non-magnetic model, and the bowl often falls off noisily easily.

Great stand, "meh" bowl
Bought this stand and bowl to replace the plastic stand that came with my Parker shaving brush and the empty container of previous shave cream. Stand is sturdy with a heavy base and doesn't feel like it will fall over. The notch to hold the razor is wide enough to hold almost any razor. The bowl is what gets the low mark. Description says it's stainless steel, but it feels and sounds like plastic. The inner layer may be metal and the outer plastic, not sure without cutting into them. The bowl is small and the smooth inner finish makes it a little difficult to get a good lather from the shave cream. For the price of the kit, it's a good buy and does the job. I will be upgrading to a bigger bowl soon.

Functional and good looking
The bowl is a little small for me (as a new wet shaver) to whip up a good foam without making a huge mess. I wound up melting a puck of shaving soap into it, and it works well for that. The stand holds the brush, bowl of soap, and my Rockwell razor on the counter top. I just use a large mug to make my foam.

Blades are as sharp as a bowling ball!
I am 53, and have been shaving since I was 14. I have used safety razors in the past, and thought I would get this for a really close, comfortable shave.Wrong.First, the good points. Everything looks awesome. The included Canvas toiletries bag is very nice. The soap produces a good lather, and the badger brush is really quite exceptional.Unfortunately, these aren't the items that actually shave your face. I was surprised to find out that, rather than twisting the bottom of the razor and the top opening in half to replace the blade, like most sensible razor makers would design, you actually have to remove the blade holder from the top of the razor, resulting in 4 different parts (including the blade) that have to be carefully aligned in order to get the blade to extend past the guard correctly. Why anyone would make a razor that allows the blade to wiggle back and forth is beyond me.Once I had everything aligned and put back together, I wet my face, lathered up, and commenced to shave. As I stated earlier, I have quite a bit of experience with safety razors (if you are trying one for the first time, be careful-- you will repeatedly nick yourself in a skinny minute). What I had never experienced, though, is a blade of such poor quality that that it SCRAPED OFF, rather than cut, the facial hair. By the time I was done, I was bleeding from numerous nicks, my face felt as if it were on fire from all the unnecessary abrasions, and I still had nowhere close to a good shave. I now cannot shave for the next few days as my face will require time to heal. I wondered why they included an alum block that is LITERALLY bigger and heavier than the included soap puck... now I know. It was either coat my face in alum or bleed out like a stuck pig.So, my final verdict--1. If you want a pretty set that you will not use but rather just display, this is a good choice.2. If you wish to commit suicide by the painful death of a thousand cuts, this is a PERFECT choice.3. If you want a close shave from a safety razor without having to spend more money on quality blades and a significant amount of time disassembling and reassembling your razor, then run, don't walk, away from this poorly made product.
