Portable and even better than most French Presses
This is a great French Press, whether you need it to be portable or not. I ordered this in January 2015, so I can't speak of the quality/issues prior to that. But based on the Desk Press that I have, it's an awesome coffee press.-The coffee grounds rarely get through the multiple screens (so far it's happened only once out of 20 or 30 cups that I've made, and that one time still barely any grounds made it through).-I've used different grinds, from fine to coarse, and have had no issues. I've also gotten pre-ground coffee from the grocery store, and it worked perfectly.-There is no issue with the plastics within the press (no odd flavors, no warping of the plastic, etc.).-There is no issue with over-brewing or bitterness (which you may expect since the grounds remain at the bottom of the mug the entire time while you drink your coffee, until you are done with your coffee and ready to clean the mug out).I did notice that the bottom part of the plunger (the fine mesh screen which is what filters the coffee) is slightly off angle. At a first glance, you would think it is defective. However, I have had no issues, and as mentioned before, coffee grounds remain at the bottom only. For some, it may not fit into your car cup holder because of the large diameter, but it just about fits into my one (Mazda3), so 5 stars from me!

Quality french press mug out of this World!
The mug is stainless steel and is built solid to withstand banging on waste basket getting out the grounds. The handle is a very grippy rubber as is the base. The amount of coffee is just right unlike other mugs out there. The actual press itself is also very well built and does an excellent job of filtering the grounds for a great cup of joe. Eventhough the sipping hole in the lid isn't able to be closed (which might be the only complaint) the lid itself is very well secure to the mug and this hasn't caused any problems anyways. I believe a hot beverage is capable of staying warm up to 4 or 5 hours at room temperature. I have found cleaning to be rather easy so no complaints there. I also like that another regular lid is provided in the event you do not want a french press. This mug is no joke in its quality and function. I am very happy with this purchase and even happier with the tasty coffee I am now able to take on the move every morning. You won't be disappointed with this product.

this thing is a piece of junk
I bought this to replace my plastic coffee press which always left the coffee tasting a little funky. So far I haven't had a chance to press any coffee, which probably works fine, but just using it as a travel mug has not gone well. First, it doesn't keep coffee hot (highly recommend the Nissan mugs) and second just after the second time through the dishwasher that pretty color started flaking off.So were I you I'd move right past this one.

If you add cream/sweetener to taste, not the mug for you
I definitely appreciated the chance to have a large travel-sized mug of pressed coffee WITHOUT having to get a second cup dirty by pouring the coffee into it to cream/sugar and drink. It sounded like the top one reviewer posted (to unscrew the rod and swap tops, then screwing back in at the end) was the answer for me! Unfortunately, the two times I tried the mug that way ended—not surprisingly—with the nut into which the rod screws getting lost in the grinds, after a few hours of the cup being tipped up to drink. Trust me, it is a messy trial of retrieving it at that point....all you can do it upend the mug over a bowl and sift through all the grinds :-(FWIW, I thought the mug does a good job of keeping the grinds separated while drinking - and volume was GREAT - but folks who add lots of stuff to their coffee, or who add things to taste, won’t be so pleased. I’m going to return and try the Bodum next!

It feels good
It feels nice and heavy in my hand without liquid. It took me two tries to push the bottom of the press in correctly so coffee grounds would not escape. I liked that the top of the inside of the cup slants in so that the press works the way it should. The cups arm looks like it is made of quality medal and screwed in with screws. There is additional filter at the mouth piece incase some grounds escaped. Very nice. I like that I ordered the color black so I can decorate it!

Not so great at 2nd glance
*UPDATE*: I was too hasty in my original review - the handle broke off after just 3 days of use. I'm not happy about that as I could've had this drink spilled all over me at work. It was flimsy before that but not a big deal. It's clearly from poor welding being assembled in China. On top of that, as another user pointed out, it does leak at the lid somewhat. If you're careful and adjust the rubber ring to fit tightly before closing the lid, it does seem to help. I will still give it 2 stars because it's a great idea, but poorly executed because of cutting corners on cost, most likely. This would be a 5/5 product if it had decent craftsmanship. Unfortunately it doesn't and I'll be choosing a different brand with the same idea.----Original Review----Love it. I use it at work to covertly drink tea from my mug alongside the rest of the coffee hipsters without being ostracized. One thing to note is that it won't come close to fitting in a general car cupholder, although I prefer it because it feels more stable on my desk (less risk of knocking it over). Another positive is that it has a nice rubbery base on the outside of the mug so it stays firm where you set it down. Would recommend to anyone, it's just as you would expect it.
