Contragel Green Contraceptive Gel 60ml - Natural Alternative to Spermicide

I am a bit of a health nut hippie and when I decided to go off the Pill and use a diaphragm to reduce my chemical load, I really wanted to find a good spermicide that is healthier for me than a traditional one.This is a spermicide that's been tested and used in Europe. In the US, it can't be called a spermicide because it does NOT have the chemical Nonoxynol-9 which is requires in US spermicides (which is what I wanted to avoid). If you don't know what Nonoxynol-9 is, well, it's basically a detergent that a lot of women find irritating to the vaginal wall. It can increase the risk of infection and actually aid in STD transmission because of the damage to the vaginal wall. If you don't believe me, then look up research studies particularly with HIV.As for how it works-- well, I'm not pregnant. And I've never had any irritation with this product. If you search the web, you'll see a lot of glowing reviews for it as well. I'd definitely recommend it!

Love that it’s non toxic but SO extremely thick, goopy and hard to use. Would only use if you have a diaphragm to use it with not on its own.

Works well with my Caya diaphragm. Has not been irritating at all!

This can cause burning and is also very sticky. However, it is an effective spermicide.

MY girlfriend sometimes gets sensitive to nonoxynol 7, and I expect that this will feel a lot more comfortable for her. I'm glad to see an organic and non-chemical form of birth control available on the market.

Not pregnant yet and it is less harsh than traditional spermicide. I had been using a more typical spermicide with a diaphragm but it caused frequent UTIs. So far I haven't ran into the same trouble with this product.

I bought this contragel to use with my diaphragm. I like that it doesn't contain any disturbing, cancer-causing chemicals or questionable ingredients.
