No more cartridges, EVER!!!
Just received this printer and I have to say the print quality is excellent, the printing speed typical of inkjets, and the fact that I don't have to buy another cartridge - OUTSTANDING!!! Care should be taken when filling the tanks for the first time, wear gloves and make sure you have a paper towel handy for drips but otherwise this is a simple foolproof process. Tanks are clearly labeled with the color as well as ink number, there are rubber caps and a spot to hold the caps for each tank while filling. The ink that is supplied fills the tanks to capacity, I'll let you know in about 2 years if they last as they say they will. The supplied ink is supposed to be good for 6500 prints, so that may be awhile. Once powered up the device takes about 20 minutes or so to prep itself for the first time then it is ready to print. My first print was a photograph and the resulting print was excellent quality. I used some pretty cheap thin stock, but the image was vivid and the color looked perfect. I had expected a few bad prints to warm the device up but it's prepping cycle was sufficient to feed the ink to the empty print heads and get it all warmed up and completely ready to print on demand. This multi-function device replaces a HP 7900 series that was huge and bulky in comparison. This printer takes a little over half the space of the HP, a quality not easily overlooked on my very cluttered desk. Scanning was perfect as well as the 1 touch copy. I gave these features a quick test with a high resolution image. Without a microscope the original and copy are indistinguishable from one another. I highly recommend that if your shopping for a inkjet you invest in this product, it does not disappoint.I review products professionally, so I see a lot of both high and low quality items crossing my desk. I am not reviewing this product professionally but from one consumer to another. If this review helped your own decision, please click the YES button next to "Was this review helpful”

This has got to be one of the worst experiences I've had with a printer
Purchased the printer in Nov 2016. This has got to be one of the worst experiences I've had with a printer. My previous printer, a competing brand of inkjet printer lasted for years with few issues. The inktank idea is fine. I appreciate the fact that I just need to purchase bottles of ink. BUT the problems with the printer started early and continue.1. the head clogs with ink if you are not printing all the time. the printer services a family of 4. We print every week. but it still clogs after sitting for while. To get it to print again I have to do about 10-15 cleaning passes. and then there are still lines and missing segments.2. color photo printing is pretty bad. I print on quality photo paper. there are discolorations in the photo every time I print. I've tried all kinds of combinations of printing settings and they are still there. It's also not a borderless photo printer- like my previous printer was. so that is annoying...3. the manual setup / menus are pretty easy, but annoying to use. setting up the wifi is a bit tedious.4. I'm a computer guy. I do networks and security for a living. but the WIFI is now completely broken. It says its connected to the wifi. it gets an IP address, but no devices in the house can connect to it. its not the router. its not a firewall setting. everything else on the network works fine. when it WAS working, regularly the printer would just show up offline for no apparent reason. set it to 'use offline' and it works part of the time. reset the printer config and it finally starts working again. very annoying (I know this is partially a windows problem...) I've reset the printer back to factory defaults a few times. nothing can even ping it at this point.so, I have to say, I'm not a fan.

Great Printer, but does NOT PRINT DOUBLE-SIDED. BE AWARE.
I was so excited to own this printer -- the idea is fantastic, and I was fine with paying extra money for a nice scanner/printer combo that reduced waste from ink cartridges and cost significantly less in ink costs, as well. It works quickly, efficiently, is easy to use, so those are all great bonuses. My largest issue with this printer is that it does NOT print double sided, despite being designed for large print jobs -- which is incredibly confusing. Finding this out was very... shocking, to say the least. I called Epson a few times, spoke with three different representatives to try and solve the problem, only to be told that it won't print double-sided because I'm using an Apple product. Okay. That's incredibly silly, but my parents have an HP, so I tried printing double-sided from there, which I was told would work. Lo and behold, the printer doesn't duplex print from an HP computer, either. It literally just does NOT print double-sided. I've gotten 20 dollar printers with laptop purchases that were able to print double-sided. This oversight on Epson's part is extremely disappointing -- for 300 dollars I can't perform a basic printer function? It's really reduced the usefulness of this printer for me, as an MFA student with bulk printing needs for workshops. It isn't well-advertised as being unable to duplex print, which makes me feel like I've been duped. Ultimately, I'm now really disappointed, but if you don't need double-sided printing, this is a great option, admittedly.
